Description
The Business Administrator serves to support the key financial officer for all of University Housing at UT Dallas. This position provides support for all budgeting, accounting, financial and managerial reporting, internal auditing, pricing & costing procurement, and revenue enhancement within University Housing. In addition, the focus of this position includes all activities related to human resources & payroll and staff training. The position assists in performing research for long range financial planning models in support of departmental master planning and other strategic efforts. This position serves as a member of the Business Services team, is a critical resource for departmental strategic planning and the liaison in matters pertaining to business process, finance and human resources.
Minimum Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree; and
- Three to five years of experience performing administrative duties with two of these years in a position with unit-wide scope; and
- One to three years of supervisory experience; and
- One to three years administrative experience in higher education.
- An equivalent level of relevant education and experience may be considered.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, residential or hospitality management, public administration or a closely-related field
- 3 years of progressively responsible experience in business administration, residential/hospitality management, information management, marketing, budget planning, and finance
- CPA
- Microsoft Excel proficiency in Pivot Tables and Vlookup.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide support in timely and accurate reporting of relevant budgetary and accounting information for department specific accounts and projects.
- Supports the research and preparation of needed adjustments for all departmental accounts.
- Ensures proper classification of accounting entries in order to efficiently manage departmental accounts and ensures compliance with applicable laws, procedures and practices as dictated by the University and UT System.
- Assists in the preparation and monitoring of departmental budgets, tracks expenditures, and inter-departmental transfers.
- Processes requisitions, encumbrances, renewals for purchase orders.
- Advises staff on account allocation for purchases and provides account balances to staff as needed.
- Handles all HR paperwork processing for staff, including ePUR's, PDQ's and staff payroll and any other related HR procedures.
- Maintain business files, communicate travel policies, coordinate activities associated with conferences, and cross reference payment of repair work with invoices received by staff.
- Maintain check out procedure for staff leaving the department.
- Assist with specialized business tasks and activities assigned.

Additional Information
After the probationary period, this role may be eligible for a hybrid (partly remote/partly in office) work schedule, subject to business need and manager approval. Must be located within the DFW Area and have the ability to be on campus with 24 hours of notice. A UT Dallas Remote Work Agreement will be required within 14 days after approval.
