The Office of Financial Aid is looking for a professional with experience in student aid program management, compliance, and/or reporting to fill our Assistant Director, Financial Aid position. Apply now to join our team!


The Assistant Director, Financial Aid for Controls, Assessments, and Program Management is responsible for monitoring quality assurance and federal, state, and institutional compliance for the Office of Financial Aid. The position manages processes related to the accurate and timely awarding of student aid, maintains the Office of Financial Aid's Policy and Procedure Manuals and procedure guides, assists with reporting and audits, and manages the TEXAS Grant program at UT Dallas.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and at least three years of higher education administration experience in financial aid, student finance, or related area.  An equivalent combination of education and experience will be accepted. 

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and at least five years of higher education administration experience in financial aid, student finance, or related area
  • At least one to two years of supervisory experience


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Complete and monitor multiple quality controls to ensure compliant, accurate, and timely awarding and administration of federal, state, and institutional student aid.
  • Manage the TEXAS Grant program at UT Dallas, including awarding, compliance, and reporting.
  • Maintain Office of Financial Aid Policy and Procedure Manual, procedure guides, and institutional documentation.
  • Maintain new staff training materials, coordinate staff trainings with leadership team, and offer scheduled and ad hoc staff training.
  • Monitor changes in regulations and requirements of federal and state programs and communicate such changes to administrative team and UT Dallas community, as appropriate.
  • Assist with federal, state, and institutional reporting and audits.
  • Work with the Office of Financial Aid's Technology Team on special projects, testing, and launching new business processes and/or initiatives.


Additional Information

The successful candidate must be eligible to award Title IV student aid.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Excellent organizational, prioritization, and time management skills with the ability to plan and manage multiple tasks and projects effectively
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, schedule, direct, and monitor tasks, activities, and projects to complete assignments timely and efficiently
  • Detail-oriented and accurate with the ability to investigate, analyze, and interpret information/data and apply strong reasoning skills to make informed decisions, and to identify potential issues and implement effective solutions proactively
  • Ability to interpret and apply policies and regulations
  • Supervisory skills with knowledge of different work styles and personality types


Remote Work Notice
Following successful completion of an initial training period, a hybrid work schedule may be available, subject to business needs and departmental approval. Employee must be located within the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex area and have the ability to be on campus for work activities as scheduled and/or with 24-hour notice. Completion and approval of a UT Dallas Remote Work Agreement will be required, and use of personal computer, internet, and other standard equipment may be required. Remote work arrangements are subject to regular review and re-approval and may be cancelled.
