Department Description

The UC Davis Energy and Efficiency Institute (EEI) was established in the spring of 2006 as the nation's first university center dedicated to energy efficiency. Its mission is to accelerate the development and commercialization of energy efficiency technologies and to train future leaders in energy efficiency. Over the years, EEI has developed and advanced a number of impactful research centers and hubs that advance applied R&D and engagement activities in the field of energy efficiency, clean energy solutions and decarbonization, including but not limited to: the California Lighting Technology Center (CLTC); the Western Cooling Efficiency Center (WCEC); the Center for Water-Energy Efficiency (CWEE); the Industrial Decarbonization Solutions Hub (IDSH); the Materials Decarbonization and Sustainability Program; the Market Transformation Research Program; the Program for International Energy Technologies; UC Davis Wild Energy, and the Electric Vehicle Research Center. This position helps to guide and coordinate the existing R&D efforts of these organizations. This position is also tasked with working outside the bounds of EEI across Colleges, departments, and units to support new center, hub, and program development at UC Davis, where the campus has a strategic competitive advantage and an opportunity for strategic growth of R&D, education and impact. This includes, but is not limited to, the Office of Grand Challenges, the Institute of Transportation Studies and the Institute of the Environment. This position is meant to serve as a catalyst, for fostering transdisciplinary collaborations and forging innovative pathways to conceive and translate research breakthroughs into tangible real-world solutions. This will necessarily involve senior-level engagement with internal and external stakeholders, including when appropriate State and Federal stakeholders.
