Departmental Overview

The ASUC Student Union is a department within the Division of Student Affairs and is the administrative & advising support arm of the ASUC (Associated Students of the University of California) Student Government. This complex serves all students, faculty and staff, and visitors seeking to create and experience an inclusive campus community, thereby enhancing the student experience at UC Berkeley. To this end, we provide quality services and programs that foster experiential learning opportunities and ensure a sustainable organization. With direction from the ASUC Student Union Board, we derive income from student fees, retail operations, vending, food service, and a variety of self-operated units such as the Art Studio and Events Services. The Student Union Facilities Maintenance & Operations (SUFMO) manages and operates multiple facilities including the MLK Jr. Student Union, Eshleman Hall, Anthony Hall, and Anna Head Alumnae Hall. As a University amenity to the student experience, MLK Jr. Student Union and Eshleman Hall are required to provide building operations day and evenings. Our professional and student staff value providing high-quality customer service while fostering a safe, secure, and operable environment for the campus community and visitors.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 25Live consulting and support functions for BEST portfolio Student Union and Student Affairs divisional stakeholders. This includes analysis, implementation, planning and execution, requirements gathering, customer communication, and problem solving as needed.
  • Participates on project teams to develop requirements documentation, vendor research, and other artifact creation as part of the project discovery and/or initiation phases.
  • Creates, manages, and shares portfolio reports and dashboards with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Partners with SAIT Technical Analyst, internal and external stakeholders to create Standard Operating Procedures, presentations, workflows, process mapping, and related.
  • Analyzes business problems to be solved with automated systems, existing technology, process improvements, documentation, or other proposed solutions.
  • Analyzes BEST project portfolio (queue and active) to ensure alignment, minimize duplication, improve efficiency, and identify new opportunities.
  • In collaboration with 25Live, BEST, and Student Affairs partners, ensures technology is utilized properly, scalable, and aligned to changing business needs.
  • Develops full data / information documentation for small- and medium-size projects.
  • Performs data management or resource research and studies for a variety of constituents.
  • Develops both conceptual and detailed data baselines for projects.
  • Maintains a positive relationship with stakeholders and personnel that will assist in the development, funding, promotion, and/or public relations of the Division of Student Affairs and BEST.
  • Supports the success and objectives of BEST and the SU team.
  • Demonstrates values of excellence, innovation, and integrity.
  • Understands and applies industry practices, community standards and department / unit policies and procedures in depth.
  • Identifies and selects training opportunities for professional development.
  • Participates in cross-functional group discussions, activities and other training efforts.
  • Participates in the development and monitoring of policies and procedures for department or department operations.

Education/Training:

Under California law, the University of California, Berkeley is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role and should not offer a salary outside of the range posted in this job announcement. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.

The budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $70,100.00 - $80,000.00.

  • This is a 12-month, 100%, full-time (40 hours per week), contract position that is eligible for full UC benefits with the possibility of extension.
  • This position is exempt and paid monthly.
