The Volunteer and Student Specialist plays a key role in providing the highest quality of patient care while the patient is at Union Health.
The Volunteer and Student Specialist oversees volunteer applications, interviews, scheduling, and onboarding processes across Union Health, maintaining accurate records and background checks. This role also works with local universities to expand volunteer and internship opportunities, fostering community engagement and supporting students in gaining healthcare experience.

Volunteer and Student Specialist Details
Essential Job Duties:
- Review, process, and manage Volunteer Applications daily, including scheduling interviews, EHO appointments, orientations, background checks, and reference contacts.
- Develop and maintain volunteer opportunities and placements across Union Health System departments, ensuring a range of options for volunteers.
- Oversee and schedule shifts for the Cuddler Program, coordinating four shifts per day, seven days a week.
- Manage and keep volunteer files, requirements, and hours up-to-date within the Volgistics system, expanding its use for tracking volunteers at multiple locations.
- Coordinate student opportunities, including partnerships with universities and community programs, to support health career paths and year-round teen volunteer initiatives.
- Assist in processing and organizing Clinical/Internship Applications, including placements and maintaining accurate monthly tracking within Union Health's system.
Qualifications: - Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in a health-related field preferred.
- Minimum of one (1) to three (3) months of on-the-job training in hospital procedures is preferred.
