Summary of Job Duties: The APRN/PA will extend the patient care and administrative services for UAMS- Baptist Health Joint Venture physicians in both inpatient and outpatient settings. APRN/PA will be expected provide comprehensive health assessments, determine diagnoses, implement treatment plans, perform procedures, and prescribe medicines and treatments. The APRN/PA will also manage health issues for patients, independently or in collaboration with the designated physicians. The APRN/PA will work autonomously as well as in collaboration with a variety of individuals to diagnose and manage patient's health care problems; and will serve as a health care resource, interdisciplinary consultant, and patient advocate. The APRN/PA will also coordinate the multidisciplinary care of patients, facilitating all necessary consults, assuring that care is timely and appropriate.
Employment in this role is managed by UAMS, but located at Baptist Health Little Rock.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications (Essential for the job – the applicant must possess at the time of hire)
Education, general: Master's Degree in nursing
Experience, length in years and kind: Two (2) years nursing experience
Licenses, certificates, or registration: Licensed Registered Nurse in Arkansas; APRN/CPN License. Current BLS certification or must successfully obtain certification within the first 30 days of employment.
Special knowledge, abilities and skills: Must be able to operate all typical nursing equipment essential to performing the job (i.e., scales, procedure equipment, needles, blood pressure equipment, and EKG machines).
Must have normal communication sensory requirement.
Ability to comply with CDC Universal Precautions when indicated.
Preferred Qualifications (Non-essential for the job –the applicant may possess at the time of hire)
Licenses, certificates, or registration: Prescriptive authority and DEA license must be obtained after hire.

Responsibilities:
Conducts thorough initial and follow-up assessments of oncology patients.
Reviews medical history, physical exam, and current status to inform care.
Obtains patient health histories and perform physical examinations”.
Orders appropriate laboratory tests, imaging or other diagnostics and reviews/interprets results to guide treatment decisions.
Collaborates with the oncology physician team to plan and manage treatment regimens.
Coordinates infusion visits, monitor patient response, manage side-effects and adjust care as needed.
Prescribes oral or IV medications initiates supportive care.
Monitors for infusion reactions, and intervenes when needed to manage adverse effects or complications.
Acts as a liaison between patients, oncologists, infusion nurses, pharmacy, radiation oncology, surgical oncology, support services, and other team members.
Ensures continuity and coordination of care.
Educates patients and families on the disease process, treatment options, expected side‐effects, infusion process, monitoring, self-care, symptom recognition and when to seek help.
Serves as patient advocates, helping navigate care, improve access, and support quality of life.
Educate patients and answer questions regarding their disease, treatments, related drug and treatment side effects and hazards.
Maintains accurate documentation of patient encounters, treatment plans, medications and outcomes.
Participates in quality improvement initiatives.
Ensures adherence to institutional protocols, regulatory standards.
May perform other duties as assigned.
