Summary of Job Duties: Provides clinical nursing care for children enrolled in local KIDS FIRST clinics. Acts as a clinical resource for clinic staff.

Standard Duty Areas: (list primary function of the position)

Implements the nursing process to manage patient care problems of a complex and changing nature as demonstrated by documentation and observation. Assumes accountability and responsibility for all aspects of care for assigned group of patients, with respect for developmental level and age-specific issues. Administers medications and treatments and performs procedures according to UAMS and KIDS FIRST policies. Evaluates children to identify signs of illness or injury and intervenes appropriately. Maintains current and accurate records and ensures confidentiality.

Integrates and shares knowledge related to clinical practice. Teaching/learning needs of patients and families are identified, addressed, and documented. Acts as a resource for staff in the areas of health, safety, and infection control. Assumes responsibility for acquiring knowledge and experience to meet professional goals.

Develops and maintains close working relationships with clinic director, Medical Director, nursing managers, clinic nurse and other team members. Actively works with contacts to coordinate care and promote referrals to program. Collaborates with KIDS FIRST staff, PCPs, UAMS resources and others to implement and revise plan of care as needed. Provides employment documentation such as annual TB screening, CPR /nursing license renewal verification, etc. promptly.
Qualifications:

Required:

  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program with Associates Degree, Nursing Diploma, Bachelors in Nursing, or Master's in Nursing
  • Valid RN License
  • Minimum of 2 years Registered Nursing experience or 2 years of clinical nursing experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Strong work ethics and accountability

Preferred:

  • BSN or MSN
  • 3 or more years nursing experience
  • Pediatric Care experience
  • Current BLS
