Come join our amazing team as a Mental Health Associate!   Now part of The Stepping Stones Group, STAR of CA provides a wide array of services to children, adolescents, and adults to address a variety of mental health needs including individual, couples, or family psychotherapy, school-based counseling services, psychodiagnostic assessment, parent education, and group therapies. Services are delivered to a diverse population presenting with a wide range of concerns with an emphasis on applying evidence-based treatments.   Mental Health Associates participate in the Mental Health Training Program within STAR of CA and its non-profit arm, CAUSE, Inc. The Mental Health Training Program commences each year on August 1, and extends to July 31 of the following year; Mental Health Associates are expected to participate in the training year in its entirety. Mental Health Associates will receive Supervised Professional Experience in accordance with regulations set forth by the Board of Behavioral Sciences (see Staff Benefits below for additional supervision and training details). Mental Health Associates primarily provide clinical services to children, adolescents, and their families.     Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive “wraparound services” to children/adolescents/families with various diagnostic presentations (i.e., Mood, Anxiety, Trauma, Neurodevelopmental Disorders)
  • Individual counseling utilizing evidence-based treatments
  • Parent/Family counseling, including Parent Management Training and Family Systems interventions
  • Multidisciplinary team consultation
  • Collaborate with IEP team members including consultation IEP services
  • Maintain administrative oversight of client paperwork, collateral consults, and documentation
  • Create and maintain caseload schedule
  • Optional assessment opportunities
  • Option to provide community-based counseling/psychotherapy to individuals, couples, and families with an emphasis on evidence-based practices
  Mandatory Requirements:
  • Master's Degree in Counseling, Psychology, or related field.
  • Registered Associate (AMFT, ACSW, APCC) with BBS current or in process
  • Clinical experience with children and/or adolescents
  • Reliable transportation
    Preferred:
  • Microsoft Office proficient
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • School-based service experience
  • Training in evidence-based practices
  • Training in Applied Behavior Analysis
