At The Medical Center of Aurora and Centennial Medical Plaza, patients are our first priority. We take extreme measures to ensure high quality, safe care in the most comfortable setting possible. The Medical Center of Aurora is Metro Denver's first community hospital to earn two-time Magnet Recognition for nursing excellence by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), and is a 346-bed acute care hospital in Aurora, CO. The Medical Center of Aurora is comprised of six campus in Aurora and Centennial, CO, including the Main Campus, North Campus (Behavioral Health and Wellness Center), Centennial Medical Plaza, Saddle Rock ER, Spalding Rehabilitation Hospital, Spalding Rehabilitation at P/SL and a medical office building at Green Valley Ranch.  The main campus is a level II trauma Facility with Primary Stroke Certification and Chest Pain Certification accreditation, serving the eastern metro area and I-70 corridor. 


The Respiratory Therapy Department at The Medical Center of Aurora is seeking Respiratory Care Practitioners who align with our vision of elevating the practice of Respiratory Care. We are seeking therapists who are excited to practice with autonomy, respect, and be part of a dynamic team who seek to practice at the top of license. Position Summary: This position supports the mission of The Medical Center of Aurora/Centennial Medical Plaza of optimizing quality of life of all those served by expanding beyond the traditional focus on medical needs to the needs of the whole person.

The Charge Respiratory Therapist provides direction, serves as a resource and acts as a role model for staff to ensure comprehensive and safe patient care.  The Charge Therapist serves as a liaison and promotes teamwork within the department.  The Charge Therapist assists the Director in establishing unit specific goals, determining work procedures and expediting work flow; ensuring compliance with policies and procedures and regulatory compliances; following staffing matrix/productivity standards, assisting with evaluations and chart audits and performing any duties as assigned. 


The Charge Therapist assists the staff in patient care assessment, planning interventions and being involved in problem solving.  The Charge Therapist performs delegated duties consistent with his/her scope of practice and functions within the philosophy and overall plan of care delivery.  The Charge Therapist is also a RT who demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for his/her patients based on criteria that is age appropriate and is based on the physical, psychosocial, cultural, safety and learning needs of the individual patient.

Qualifications

Position Requirements:  


Licensure / Certification / Registration:  Licensed to practice as an RT in the State of Colorado. RRT credential from NBRC. Current Basic Life Support upon hire (BLS) and any unit specific certification:  Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 6 months (ACLS); Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS); Neonatal Resuscitation Practitioner (NRP) all within 1 year of hire.


a.            Education:  Graduate of an accredited school of Respiratory Therapy. Registered Respiratory Therapist required.  BSN preferred.  Activity in professional organizations encouraged.  

 

b.            Experience:  Minimum two years of experience as an RT.  Previous experience in charge/supervisory position desirable.  Education, experience or certification specific to clinical area recommended. 

 

c.             Special Qualifications:  Continuing demonstration of clinical and leadership competency. Commitment and understanding of staffing matrix/productivity standard.  Committed to the goals of the unit, patient safety initiatives and positive patient experience.

 

d.            Knowledge / Skills / Abilities: Demonstrates good organizational skills.  Provides safe and appropriate patient care within the standards of nursing practice.  Displays judgment and superior problem solving skills.  Communicates positively and professionally with all internal and external customers.
