Position Summary:

The Training and Knowledge Manager will support MSI's talent development efforts by designing and delivering synchronous and asynchronous training activities and monitoring and promoting the use of  MSI's knowledge management systems. The successful candidate will collaborate with other MSI staff, including subject matter experts (SMEs), other training professionals, and information technology specialists. The manager will use appropriate learning technologies to develop training materials and update existing materials, and will perform administrative functions within the Learning Management System. This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities. This position will report to the Senior Talent Development Manager. The preferred location for this role is in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan (DMV) area.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with SMEs to develop and refine training materials and job aids, such as templates, forms, manuals, checklists, and how-to guides.
  • Create and modify e-learning activities using instructional design principles and tools such as Articulate 360 (Storyline, Rise, Review), Camtasia, or Adobe Illustrator.
  • Facilitate or co-facilitate training sessions for employees at all levels of the organization on topics including supervision skills, performance management, giving and receiving feedback, and promoting a respectful workplace free from discrimination, harassment, and sexual misconduct.
  • Coordinate the use of internal resources including people, technology, facilities, and materials, that are available to support training activities.
  • Perform producer functions for virtual training sessions (e.g., managing breakout rooms, monitoring the chat, etc. for Microsoft Teams events).
  • Perform administrative functions within the Learning Management System and knowledge management platforms, including uploading content, managing assignments, providing support to users, running reports, and analyzing data.
  • Promote a culture of knowledge-sharing across departments and practice areas within MSI and facilitate their contributions to the knowledge base of organizational documents, best practices, and other relevant information that exist in MSI's knowledge management platforms.
  • Support the evaluation of training and learning initiatives.
  • Provide support as needed to other talent development and HR initiatives such as performance management, onboarding, and employee engagement.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, Instructional Design, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Learning Technologies, or other relevant degree required.
  • Minimum four years of professional experience required.
  • Minimum two years of experience in the specialized areas of staff training or learning and development required.
  • Experience designing, developing, and delivering training required.
  • Experience coordinating or communicating across multiple stakeholders in an organization required.
  • Experience administering Learning Management Systems required.
  • Experience using learning technologies and software applications (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate or other e-learning authoring tools) required. Experience with Adobe Illustrator preferred.
  • Experience managing meetings in videoconferencing software (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Zoom, WebEx, etc.) required. Experience with Microsoft Teams preferred.
  • Experience working with Microsoft 365, primarily Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, required.
  • Knowledge of instructional design and adult learning principles required.
  • Strong written communication skills and attention to detail required.
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies, applications, and industry concepts/terminology required.
  • Fluency in English required.

Pay Transparency Statement:

We are committed to taking a thoughtful, compliant, and equitable approach to employment compensation. We commit to providing a holistic comprehensive salary analysis, including reviews of individual skill sets and compensable factors related to qualifications, business needs, internal compensation data, and industry and labor market surveys. The anticipated pay range for this position is $78,000 to $85,000 USD.
