Project Summary
Tetra Tech is providing energy expertise and related technical and material assistance to the Government of Ukraine. This project focuses on enhancing the resilience, reliability, affordability, and security of the electricity, natural gas, and district heating sectors. The scope of work includes addressing immediate challenges and physical damage to energy infrastructure, as well as preparing for Ukraine's post-war reconstruction and long-term energy security.
Position Summary
Tetra Tech is seeking a Technical Expert, Industrial Energy Efficiency to support energy efficiency interventions in the commercial and industrial sectors. This position will support the project's work to mobilize demand-side energy efficiency investments in the commercial and industrial sectors and will support initiatives that reduce energy consumption through conservation and technological advancements, lowering costs for consumers. The successful candidate will report to Deputy Industrial Lead, Improved Demand-Side Management. This is a full-time position for Ukrainian citizens, to be based in the Kyiv office. Occasional travel around Ukraine may be required.
Position Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Demand-Side Management Lead and Deputy Industrial Lead to implement activities that improve industrial energy efficiency
Perform energy audits of industrial plants; develop prefeasibility assessments and feasibility studies for energy efficiency measures with a focus on thermal processes; review audits and reports by subcontractors
Facilitate on-site technical work and analytical studies on energy efficiency in industries
Monitor subcontractors' implementation of industry-related activities
Provide inputs to the energy efficiency action plan for Ukraine's industrial sector
Provide inputs to progress reports and other project working papers
Support the design and delivery of capacity building to stakeholders
Participation in trainings, workshops, and other events
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering, economics, finance, or a related field
At least 6 years of experience in the energy sector
At least 3 years of experience with energy audits and preparation of energy efficiency feasibility studies for industries
Sound knowledge of energy-saving measures, renewable energy use, and measurement and verification of energy savings
Proven knowledge of industrial processes such as iron and steel manufacturing and processing, chemical and machinery industries, and food processing (bakery, beverage, poultry, cattle breeding, dairy, sugar processing)
Experience in industrial energy management
Sound knowledge of EU and national regulations (including standards) on industrial energy efficiency
Excellent written and verbal communication
Excellent computer literacy
Professional proficiency in English and fluent Ukrainian
Preferred but Not Required Qualifications
Master's degree in engineering, economics, finance, or a related field
Strong organizational/analytical skills; experience working with detailed technical data and reports
Accreditation on industrial energy audits and/or energy management standards
Knowledge of process-related best practices on energy efficiency
Experience delivering trainings, workshops, and other events
Experience working for U.S. government-funded projects or other donor-funded projects
Line Management Responsibility: N/A
Physical Demands and Work Environment: This position will require regular attendance at the office in Kyiv and may entail occasional travel within Ukraine to interact with local stakeholders.
