The Opportunity:

Tetra Tech is seeking an experienced editor with honed technical editing and graphic design skills to join the multidisciplinary Federal Master Planning Team.  This position is a hybrid schedule with two days in the office in Colorado Springs and the rest of the week working from home or a fully remote schedule. The editor will assist the federal planning editor, project managers, and others with editing, production, and quality control of Department of Defense and other federal planning projects. The editor will produce and edit technical documents including reports, presentations, training materials, proposals, and other collateral.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate must be able to quickly learn and comprehend new technical concepts and terminology and then translate that information into clear and compelling products, including precise technical written communication and data-driven graphics. This role demands a keen eye for detail, effective time management, a collaborative approach, and exceptional organizational skills. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively individually and in a collaborative group, contributing to brainstorming sessions and taking direction, then running with a project independently.

Your Role
•    Perform an appropriate level of editing (technical edit, proofread, rewrite, etc., depending on the situation) on technical documents, focusing on grammar, style, clarity, and accuracy.
•    Collaborate on developing and enforce contract- and project-specific editorial style guides to ensure consistency in the process followed and language and terminology used in preparing deliverables.  
•    Create and use fully functional templates in a variety of software, including Adobe InDesign (preferred) and Microsoft Office (mainly Word).
•    Collaborate with fellow team members on process flow, file organization, and editing/layout best practices, and contribute to project discussions.
•    Perform project administration/project coordination duties as assigned.
•    Accompany other team members on occasional trips to job locations to participate in and/or observe planning workshops. 
•    Balance multiple project deadlines and needs simultaneously. Must be adaptable and receptive to shifting priorities.
•    Complete all projects on deadline and with a high degree of accuracy. 
•    Resolve issues with job tasks or other team members proactively and respectfully.
•    Contribute to the team's strategic plan, and work toward our core values. 
•    Adapt to additional duties and tasks as needed.
 

 

 Qualifications:

•    Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, marketing, communications, or similar, or 5-plus years of work experience in a similar role
•    5-7 years of experience in an editorial production environment preferred
•    Excellent understanding of English grammar, editorial style guides, communications best practices, production workflow processes, and organizational tools
•    Excellent understanding of the basic principles of page layout and design and ability to integrate maps, graphics, text, and other elements into visually appealing layouts while adhering to client requirements and branding guidelines
•    Exceptional working knowledge of Adobe InDesign, and working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
•    Ability to build functional templates for self and team members in a variety of software
•    Experience making infographics and other graphic data interpretation 
•    Excellent multitasking ability 
•    Flexibility and willingness to learn

This position requires the candidate to be a U.S. Citizen due to the projects they will be working on.

•    Standard office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., but the schedule is flexible within reason.
•    A hybrid schedule with two days in the office in Colorado Springs and the rest of the week working from home or a fully remote schedule.

Language and Communication Skills
•    Excellent oral and written communication skills for preparing and presenting planning reports and projects.
•    Advanced English language skills, written and verbal, including technical writing/editing experience and a demonstrated ability to write, edit, and deliver planning content.

Colorado Wage: $50,000-$65,000.
