Summary:

Tetra Tech is looking for a Solar Energy Seller/Doer to support our solar energy and battery storage practices throughout the United States. The ideal candidate will maintain a network of contacts within the industry and use our resources in the development, strategic direction, and growth of Tetra Tech's solar energy initiatives in the US. A successful candidate will contribute to the growth of our renewable practice by identifying and managing new opportunities and tracking our growth. This position reports to an office in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, but may be supported remotely or in any of our office locations.

Your Role:

Business Development:

  • Support the development of Tetra Tech's solar energy practices throughout the US.  Candidate will develop new client accounts and expand existing client accounts.
  • Participate in client marketing and business development activities which consist of client pre-positioning, technical presentations, trade show attendance, and client meetings.
  • Prepare proposals, cost estimates, and other marketing materials to support the growth and development of solar energy practice in the US.

Project Management:

  • Serve as a Project Manager—including responsibilities to manage technical projects supported by multi-disciplinary teams, engage with clients to identify new work opportunities, prepare proposals and cost estimates, establish and formulate technical approaches, and lead project teams.
  • Set and continually manage project and program expectations while delegating and managing deliverables with team members and stakeholders.
  • Manage all aspects of projects and client relationships, while maintaining project timelines and budgets and demonstrating professional technical writing and verbal skills.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Environmental Management/Civil Engineering/Electrical Engineering or solar energy related discipline from an accredited university.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience on solar energy or battery energy storage system project development.
  • Experience and knowledge of the regulatory frameworks and processes for the full development life cycle of solar energy facilities.
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to attract and retain clients and build backlog over time.
  • Experience with National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), BLM, federal and state permitting, for solar energy generation and transmission and battery storage.
  • The successful candidate will be a seller-doer with a strong, technical background in permitting energy projects, project management skills, and client/stakeholder relationships.
  • Possess project management capabilities and experience effectively balancing direct and indirect utilization rates.  
  • Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience preparing and submitting budget proposals and recommending subsequent budget changes where necessary.
  • Proficiency delivering technical and business presentations.
  • Proven track record of successfully bringing in and executing profitable assignments for clients and building key target client accounts.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) is preferred, if applicable degree.
  • A Pre-employment drug screening in compliance with state regulations is required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
