The Opportunity:
Tetra Tech Our Denver operation is adding a Senior Strategic Communications Specialist to support a variety of energy, environmental, and infrastructure projects in a fast-paced environmental consulting environment. This role requires strong project management skills and demonstrated expertise in strategic communications, public outreach, and community engagement.
The position supports the Strategic Communications Lead in developing and implementing communications strategies, supporting business development efforts, and building and maintaining professional relationships with clients, subcontractors, jurisdictions, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders. Experience with energy infrastructure projects, particularly electric transmission, is strongly preferred but not required.

Essential Job Functions:
- Design and implement community engagement and stakeholder relations strategies
- Develop strategic communications materials that translate complex technical concepts into plain language for diverse audiences
- Support energy, environmental, and infrastructure projects through effective communications planning and execution
- Contribute to business development efforts for strategic communications, energy, and environmental projects
- Develop new client accounts and collaborate with Tetra Tech account managers and Energy Program market leads to expand existing client relationships
- Serve as Project Manager for strategic communications projects and as a Subject Matter Expert on projects managed by others
- Manage project scopes to ensure work is completed on time and within budget
- Support development of presentations, cut sheets, fact sheets, and other marketing and outreach materials
- Support and participate in in-person and virtual public meetings and stakeholder engagements
- Review deliverables for grammar, style (AP or Chicago), tone, branding, and consistency with client standards
- Track, measure, and analyze the effectiveness of strategic communications approaches
- Apply critical thinking and flexible problem-solving skills to address project challenges
- Work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams
- Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards
- Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
- Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in communications, public affairs, public relations, political science, journalism, or a related field preferred (or equivalent experience with directly applicable background)
- 8–10 years of demonstrated experience performing similar strategic communications work
- Required project management experience
- Demonstrated ability to write for diverse audiences
- Strong understanding of strategic communications concepts and best practices
- Superior written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail, time management, and commitment to quality and client satisfaction
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively in a consulting environment
- Experience with content management systems (e.g., WordPress)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Willingness and ability to travel locally or occasionally nationally as needed (typically <10%)
- Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting energy infrastructure projects, including electric transmission
- Knowledge of utility-scale energy systems
- Familiarity with NEPA processes
- Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.)
Work Environment / Environmental Factors:
- This position is based in Denver, CO or Portland, OR and supports both local and national projects
- Office-based, hybrid, or remote work environment
- Occasional field or public meeting environments
- Fast-paced consulting setting with multiple concurrent projects

Compensation:
Pay commensurate with experience.
Pay Range: $90,000-$130,000 yearly
Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience and demonstrated work experience in the above role; skills, certifications, and competencies that align to the specified role; geographic location; and education, as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.
