Tetra Tech is adding a Senior Environmental Planner to our team based in North Carolina. This position is fully remote. 

 

Your Role:

The Senior Environmental Planner is a fully remote position open to candidates located anywhere in the continental U.S., with a preference for individuals residing within 50 miles of a major airport to facilitate efficient travel. This position will support and grow our robust nationwide support for a variety of Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, and other Federal Agency programs. This position will support the pursuit and execution of projects targeting a mix of federal clients across a wide geographic and project purpose area.

•    The position will engage with design-build contractors supporting federal agency projects with environmental support (permitting and compliance) to ensure the projects meet and comply with applicable regulations throughout the project lifecycle. 
•    Engage with federal, state, and local regulating authorities to fully understand administrative requirements for approval of environmental requirements of construction activities. 
•    Show entrepreneurial leadership by building client relationships, lead multidisciplinary environmental teams, and guide efforts across Tetra Tech's network and client portfolio. 
•    Responsible for carrying out effective collaboration, supporting project execution, and understanding aspects of environmental regulations.
•    Occasional visits to construction sites to provide assessment of compliance with environmental permits and regulations.
•    Be able, willing, and interested to occasionally perform some work of field teams to stay relevant with the challenges and nuances of field data collection.
•    Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
•    Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline, knowledge and awareness.
•    Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
•    Additional duties as required.
 

Qualifications:

•    BS degree in environmental sciences or relatable engineering field (non-IT) is required. This position is not suitable for an Information Technology background. 
•    20+ years of experience in managing environmental related aspects that could include environmental planning, permitting, compliance, construction support, process improvement, operations, and management related areas. 
•    Possess designation as a Certified Environmental Professional (CEP) by the Academy of Board Certified Environmental Professionals, or ability to obtain credential within six months of starting the position.
•    Demonstrated work experience supporting federal or state agencies with environmental support across multiple environmental aspects with diverse project requirements. 
•    Experience positively influencing team members to successful completion of project requirements. 
•    Enthusiasm for some travel and satisfactory driving record with current US issued driver license. Successful candidate will pass a Department of Motor Vehicles background check by designated company automobile insurance carrier.
•    Willingness to listen, learn, and apply new skills.
•    Initiative to build own career and success.

This position requires the candidate to be a U.S. Citizen due to the projects they will be working on.
 If this position requires a CAC card, CUI Enclave Access and/or a Security Clearance, a background check will be completed.

Language & Communication Skills: Candidate must be fluent in the English language in order to speak, read, and understand and make themselves understandable to an audience. Accurate record keeping (inventories, maintenance records, purchases, etc.) is also required. Ability to document in writing sometimes complex environmental aspects into understandable language for public review

Other Skills: Instructions: Candidates must have experience with common smartphone technology and other IT applications as well as a willingness to become increasingly familiar with their use, operation, and support needs of those platforms as they apply to this work.
