The Opportunity

  • Location: Papua New Guinea
  • Full-time, fixed-term appointment through to June 2027

Australia Awards PNG (AAPNG) supports Papua New Guinea's development by strengthening education, knowledge transfer, and institutional capacity, while building enduring Australia–PNG relationships.

As the Research, Knowledge & Learning Coordinator, you'll lead meaningful research, uncover insights that influence decision‑making, and champion learning across teams and institutions. From coordinating formative and operational research to crafting compelling case studies and driving knowledge‑sharing, your work will directly support PNG's next generation of leaders and the institutions that guide them.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate AAPNG learning reviews, including procurement and contracting, supporting Review Steering Committees, managing consultants, and overseeing data collection and initial report reviews.
  • Lead AAPNG research projects such as workforce needs analyses, managing procurement, consultants, data collection, and early report reviews.
  • Oversee case studies, supporting Case Study Steering Committees, guiding qualitative and quantitative data collection, and drafting briefs and reports.
  • Identify and share awardee and alumni achievements with the communications team to highlight program impact and support public diplomacy.
  • Support AAPNG scholarship promotion, applications, and selection


Selection Criteria

  • Demonstrated experience in managing or conducting research in an international development context.
  • Proven capacity in using quantitative and qualitative methodologies.
  • Proven information and technology skills in data input, collection, filtering analysis with a high degree of accuracy and reporting.
  • Strong organisation and time management skills including the ability to manage competing tasks in a timely manner.
  • Experience in report writing.
  • Strong computer skills using all Microsoft Office 365 applications.
