We are currently accepting applications for the position of Project Engineer/Manager, Highway Design and Construction in our Vancouver office. You will have the opportunity to join the Northern & Pacific Transportation Group; a growing group with a strong work base of projects, both short and long terms. The position will involve working on a diverse selection of transportation related projects in highway design and construction, Design/Build, mining, resource roads municipal road infrastructure implementation projects throughout British Columbia and the Arctic. Experience in working with Parks Canada Agency, Public Works, BC MoTI, mining and Arctic clients would be an asset. You will assist in the near term and long-term success and growth of the group. We are looking for individuals with a strong work ethic who are self-starters.

  

The salary range for this position is $80,000 to $102,000 per annum. Please note that Tetra Tech considers various factors in determining pay, including but not limited to:  education, relevant and demonstrated work experience in the role, skills, geographic location, qualifications, certifications, and other competencies relevant to the needs of the business.

  

Responsibilities:

  • Assist to manage design and construction of transportation related projects.
  • Coordinate and work with staff and subcontractors to ensure cost effective, safe and timely completion of projects to meet or exceed client expectations.
  • Manage design teams on projects from small mining roads to large design-build projects.
  • Develop, track and maintain project schedules and budgets.
  • Engage with clients to define project scope and develop proposals, budget, and project schedule.
  • Identify and manage project risks.
  • Manage change control of Projects.
  • Authorize commitments of expenditure on the project and approve payment of invoices.
  • Act as prime interface with client and other shareholders.
  • Work closely with construction trades in order to manage field activities.
  • Undertake contract administration, resident engineering, and construction supervision.
  • Work with multiple stakeholders including operations, maintenance, and engineering.
  • Manage and coordinate multi-discipline engineering groups.
  • Provide clear and concise reporting to different levels of senior management.

  

Qualifications:

  • A university degree in engineering. Other professional qualifications will be considered with relevant experience, registration with EGBC is preferred.
  • 3-5 years of working experience as a Project Engineer/Manager on transportation related projects is preferred.
  • Working experience in the principles and practices of transportation engineering as applied to design and construction of projects.
  • Construction experience of rural and urban highway or municipal roads.
  • Experience working with NMS, MMCD and BC MoTI Specifications is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated report writing ability with delivery of quality products.
  • Previous experience in developing project execution plans and budgets.
  • Good experience in writing proposals and presenting projects to clients.
  • Effective communication, organization, and presentation skills.
  • MMCD Contract Administration Certification is considered an asset.

A requirement of working for Tetra Tech is that you are at least 18 years of age and legally entitled to work in Canada without sponsorship (a copy of a valid work permit may be required).
