The Opportunity:

LDIS LLC, a Tetra Tech Company, provides integrated engineering and design solutions for the Energy, Petrochemical, Renewables, Water and Life Sciences markets. We're seeking a Project Engineer to join our Life Sciences / Pharmaceutical practice supporting a fast-growing client facility in Boulder, Colorado.  This is a hands-on, high tempo role working directly with the client on site at least two days per week and collaborating daily with an internal program manager, project controller, and a multidisciplinary engineering team (primarily mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation).

Your Role:

As a Project Engineer you will manage engineering deliverables from concept through closeout for pharmaceutical and biotech projects. You will be the technical focal point for project execution, ensuring engineering deliverables meet regulatory, quality, and schedule expectations while adapting quickly to changing scope in a fluid manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed project scope documents, design basis, project execution plan for projects.
  • Integrates all disciplines (engineering, design, procurement, document control, project controls, construction, and QA/QC) to ensure the project is aligned technically and commercially.
  • Ensure technical requirements defined in the project scope documents, design basis and execution plan are properly incorporated in the engineering deliverables.
  • Collaborates with Project Controls on project administration (scheduling, estimating, cost management, staffing, schedule management etc.) so that project resources are optimized, and project metrics are met.
  • Works with Document Control to maintain accurate and current project documentation.
  • Participates in technical reviews to ensure detailed engineering meets engineering standards. Lead and participate in periodic project status meetings with the client.
  • Lead and participate in typical design development meetings including, but not limited to constructability reviews, 3D model reviews, process hazard analysis sessions, and engineering alignment sessions.
  • Coordinate the preparation, review, and approval of engineering design reports.
  • Oversee the review of equipment technical bid submissions.
  • Report to the Project Manager on budget and schedule for engineering tasks.
  • Reinforce quality and safety standards.  Perform quality assurance function for work products before they are submitted to Client.
  • Provide liaison services between engineering and construction. Attend bid meetings or bid walks for the major construction contracts on the assigned projects. 
  • Provide bid conferences review and scope compliance analysis of the contractor proposals.  
  • Coordinate engineering assessment of field requests on construction packages.

 

Qualifications:

  • 8-15 years+ relevant experience, preferably with pharmaceutical, biotech, or other regulated life sciences facility projects. 
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or related).
  • PE registration recommended but not required.
  • Willingness and ability to be on site at the client's Boulder, CO facility a minimum of two days per week.
  • Interface with Project Controls staff at an effective level.
  • Demonstrate qualified knowledge in coordinating workflow and can work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams including engineers, designers, and contractors.  
  • Ability to develop project plans, timelines, and budgets.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Risk management and problem-solving skills to address challenges as they arise during projects.
  • Knowledge of project management tools such as Microsoft Project.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with clients, team members, and stakeholders.

Target Salary Range: $137,000 to $166,000. Please note that Tetra Tech considers various factors in determining pay, including but not limited to: education, relevant and demonstrated work experience in the role, skills, geographic location, qualifications, certifications, and other competencies relevant to the needs of the business.

Physical Requirements:

  • Constantly required to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, bend, and reach with hands and arms
  • Constantly use hands to keyboard or type, handle materials, or manipulate objects
  • Light work that includes lifting and/or moving up to 20 pounds and, occasionally, up to 50 pounds  
  • Frequently moving about to accomplish tasks.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this classification include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing abilities required by this classification includes those which permit the employee to discern verbal instructions and communicate effectively in person and by telephone.
  • Requires composure and ability to prioritize and handle several urgent tasks and requests simultaneously with a high level of competence and accuracy
  • Occasionally climbing stairs and ladders to read meters at active oil & gas sites.

Work Environment / Environmental Factors:
Environmental factors primarily consist of work performed in an indoor office environment. Work also includes time spent at project site, which may involve exposure to extreme temperatures (e.g., heat or cold), variable weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, noise, and fumes/airborne particles.

  • Position: Full-time, exempt.

     

  • Work Location: Boulder, CO & the main office in Arvada, CO
  • This position offers the flexibility to have a hybrid in-office work schedule. 
  • Other travel: Less than 10%
