Our office specializes in small to mid-sized projects for clients across Canada. The types of clients we work for include:

  • Heavy Industrial Facilities
  • Pipelines and Refineries
  • Mining and Mineral Processing
  • Municipal & Utilities
  • Water treatment 

 Your Role: 

This position joins a piping team that provides comprehensive multi-discipline design and engineering service to assist our heavy industrial clients in maintaining and upgrading their facilities, capital and maintenance, for single and multi-discipline engineering design projects. Examples of heavy industrial sectors and projects may include: oil and gas, upstream extraction/gathering, transmission and processing, mining and municipal.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform specific tasks assigned by design lead in a pre-defined timeframe
  • Prepare 3D models and produce 2D drawings from reference information including 3D models, sketches, notes, vendor drawings, or general direction from design lead
  • Checking of 2D drawings and 3D models for clashes and constructability
  • Review specifications, codes, and vendor documentation
  • Prepare complete and accurate design and drawings that adhere to Tetra Tech and client standards as well as applicable codes
  • Ability to schedule the work to completion that both satisfies project scope, schedule, and budget
  • Maintain accurate and organized drawing files within existing file structures
  • Keep piping lead informed of project status and challenges
  • Provide support to junior designers and all departments as required
  • Coordinate with all disciplines as required

Qualifications

  • Engineering Design and Drafting Technology diploma (SAIT, NAIT or equivalent) or Process Piping Drafting Certificate
  • 2-10 years' design experience is preferred
  • Ability to understand and interpret P&ID's
  • Understanding of construction, operation, and maintenance requirements
  • Proficiency in using 3D modeling platforms
  • MicroStation experience is a requirement
  • Proficient in MicroStation, AutoCAD, and Navisworks
  • PDS, PDMS, AVEVA, CADWorx Plant & P&ID, SP3D, SmartPlant P&ID, AutoPlant and Inventor considered an asset
  • Familiar with 3D Cloud points and as-built 3D modeling tools such as Autodesk Recap or CADWorx FieldPipe
  • Proficient in MS Office particularly in Word, Excel, Office
  • Excellent oral and written skills
  • Ability to effectively plan time commitments on multiple concurrent projects
  • Quick, on the job learner, efficient
  • Adaptable to changing schedules and work situation
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Client service orientated

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION 

A requirement of working for Tetra Tech is that you are at least 18 years of age and legally entitled to work in Canada. (A copy of a valid work permit may be required.)

Periodic travel within Canada to client sites and regional Tetra Tech offices may be required. Clearance on pre-placement medical and drug and alcohol testing and background checks may be required for our client worksites. As this position may be serving clients that have vaccination requirements for site access, we may be confirming your eligibility to comply with this requirement.
