Description LS Technologies, LLC, a Tetra Tech Company, is seeking an NDSS Intermediate II Computer Scientist/Systems Analyst to support the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) National Airspace Security and Enterprise Operations (NASEO) Directorate Operations Team. This position provides direct support to the FAA Operations Control Center (OCC) and supports FAA-regulated telecommunications services and operational response activities. Position is Remote (work supporting the Mid-states Operational Control Center (MOCC)), with limited travel.

Job Description The NDSS Intermediate II Computer Scientist/Systems Analyst will provide operational and technical support to the NASEO Directorate Operations Team, focusing on FAA telecommunications service lifecycle management, network performance monitoring, event response, and stakeholder coordination. The role requires demonstrable FAA experience, strong communications skills, technical familiarity with telecom service management and trouble-ticket processes, and the ability to operate independently and in coordination with FAA staff and external partners. The incumbent will be responsible for coordinating maintenance activities, communicating outages and restoration actions, supporting service improvement efforts, and acting as a liaison between FAA personnel and external customers.

Job Duties & Responsibilities - Essential Job Functions may include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Coordinate Maintenance Requests (MRs) and Maintenance Notifications (MNs) for FAA telecommunications services to ensure network performance and continuity.
  • Issue Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) or support FAA personnel in issuing NOTAMs during network events and outages as required.
  • Communicate network issues, status, and restoration actions to FAA stakeholders and external partners; assist with technical troubleshooting and restoration activities.
  • Provide management oversight for leased and owned FAA telecom programs throughout their lifecycle, with emphasis on leased IP services.
  • Support service-improvement working groups and participate in trouble-ticket resolution activities and root-cause analysis.
  • Act as liaison between external customers, service providers, and FAA staff to coordinate actions, changes, and escalations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of events, maintenance actions, notifications, and status reports.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support FAA NASEO operations and OCC responsibilities.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related science field is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant FAA-related experience supporting telecommunications, network operations, service management, or related FAA operational functions — FAA experience is mandatory for this position.
  • U.S. citizenship required. Applicants must possess or meet eligibility requirements for gaining and maintaining a security clearance.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; demonstrated experience communicating technical issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work independently, be self-motivated and innovative, and function effectively as part of a team.
  • Experience with maintenance request/notification processes, trouble-ticket systems, and lifecycle management of leased/owned telecom services (IP services preferred).
  • Must possess current FAA contractor credentials/badge or be able to obtain FAA contractor credentials/badging prior to assignment; must comply with FAA background checks, site-access procedures, and any FAA-specific screening requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience supporting FAA NASEO, OCC, or MOCC operations.
  • Experience issuing or coordinating NOTAMs in response to network events.
  • Familiarity with FAA telecommunications architecture, service-level agreements (SLAs), and FAA operational procedures.
  • Experience working with service providers and coordinating contractor/vendor activities in support of FAA programs.
  • Certifications in network/service management, ITIL, or relevant telecom/vendor certifications.

Work Requirements and Additional Information

  • Position status: Full Time; Remote (supporting the MOCC/NASEO Directorate).
  • Location: Kansas City/Olathe, Kansas (remote work). Position Status: Full Time.
  • Travel: Approximately 0%–15% depending on program and tasking.
  • Work schedule: May require variable hours to support event response, coordination with FAA operations, or participation in working groups.
  • Must be able to pass background checks, qualify for and maintain security clearance eligibility, and complete FAA- and program-specific training and qualification tasks prior to independent deployment.
  • Must possess current FAA contractor credentials/badge or be able to obtain them prior to assignment and comply with FAA site-access and security procedures when assigned to FAA facilities.
  • May be required to participate in on-call or incident-response rotations with short notice.

Physical Requirements

  • Primarily an office/remote-based role; minimal physical exertion required.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and use computer equipment for extended periods.
  • Must be able to travel occasionally (up to 15%) and meet any physical/medical requirements associated with FAA site access or program-specific deployments.

Compensation (Pay Bands)  
Salary at LST is determined by a wide array of factors, such as (but not limited to) education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, location, and clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. 
The projected compensation range for this position is provided within the posting and is based on full-time, 40 hour/week status. Part-time staff receive compensation at an hourly rate. The estimated minimum and maximum displayed represents the broadest range for this position (inclusive of high geographic and high clearance requirements) and is just one component of LSTs total compensation package for employees. ** In compliance with local laws, LS Technologies presents this reasonable compensation range as a guideline for roles in California, Colorado, New York, or Washington D.C."
