The Opportunity

The Kiribati Australia Infrastructure (Te KAI) Program is a flagship initiative supporting high-quality, climate-resilient, and inclusive infrastructure development in Kiribati. As Monitoring Evaluation and Learning Specialist, you will lead the program's monitoring, evaluation and learning systems, ensuring that Te KAI's activities are guided by credible evidence and aligned with donor performance and accountability expectations.

You will work closely with DFAT, the Government of Kiribati, and Te KAI's technical teams to embed learning, promote data-informed decision-making, and ensure monitoring and evaluation approaches are ethical, inclusive and locally relevant.


Your Role

  • Support the development and implementation of Te KAI's Monitoring and Evaluation Framework.
  • Coordinate data collection, performance tracking, and learning across program activities.
  • Support reporting cycles including Six-Monthly Progress Reports and Aid Quality Checks.
  • Facilitate reflection and learning processes across stakeholders.
  • Develop learning products such as briefs, case studies, and outcome narratives.
  • Provide monitoring and evaluation advice to a variety of stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with standards

About You

You are a thoughtful and strategic MEL professional with experience in designing and implementing MEL systems that support adaptive management and learning. You bring strong communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and a commitment to inclusive and ethical evaluation practices.

You will possess:

  • Experience in international development, monitoring & evaluation, social sciences, or public policy.
  • Understanding of donor performance systems and reporting processes.
  • Skills in both qualitative and quantitative MEL approaches (preferred)
  • Ability to generate accessible evidence products and communicate findings clearly.
  • Commitment to gender equality, disability inclusion, child protection, and safeguarding.
  • Strong written and verbal English skills.
