Tetra Tech is adding a Mechanical Engineer to our Fuels team based in Collinsville, IL.

Your Role:

Participate in collaborative efforts supporting Tetra Tech's Fuels program.  Typical activities may include:

•    Direct involvement of task orders related to fixed fueling systems.
•    Development, review and transmittal of design deliverables, systems repair/construction submittals, project specifications, and cost estimates.
•   Provide offsite management and support (from home or Collinsville, IL office) of onsite fuel repair/construction activities at multiple project locations concurrently.
•   Manage onsite support, inspection, evaluation, assessment, construction, and quality control of petroleum handling infrastructure facilities and projects.
•   Develop and implement design plans, work plans, and monitor work activities to ensure project execution adheres with established criteria and specifications.
•     Resolve technical and design constructability conflicts to enhance project effectiveness.
•     Manage the development of design drawings and related data to support preparation of project deliverables.
•     Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
•     Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline, knowledge, and awareness.
•     Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
•     Additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

•    Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
•    10+ years of experience in the mechanical engineering field with 5+ years of technical experience on US Military DoD Petroleum, Oil, and Lubricants (POL) handling facilities, infrastructure, and support systems.
•    Willingness and ability to travel as needed, approximately 10-25%.
•    Active Professional Engineering (P.E.) license
•    Proficiency in AutoCAD, RSMeans, SpecsIntact, and scheduling software such as Microsoft Project or Oracle Primavera P6.
•    Experience with engineering and design or management of designs supporting new construction, restoration, or repair of aviation and ground fuel receipt, storage, and dispensing systems inclusive of aircraft hydrant refueling facilities and/or pier-based marine vessel loading and unloading systems.
•    Working knowledge of ASME codes, UFC, UFGS, API standards and practices related to construction, inspection, and repair processes associated with DoD POL storage and distribution systems.
•    Candidates should be able to demonstrate a thorough knowledge of engineering practices, ASME codes, and API standards and principles related to engineering, design, construction, inspection, and repair of DoD fixed fueling infrastructure to include bulk storage, piping, and distribution systems.

•    Ability to collaborate and work within a diverse, cross-functional team dynamic including office-based and remote employees.
•    The ability to support multiple projects and work on several tasks concurrently.

Language & Communication Skills: 
•    Fluent in English language.
•    Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to conduct effective meetings with external Clients and Government stakeholders and internal staff and produce written deliverables such as proposals, plans, technical reports, studies, submittals, and conceptual designs.

Other Skills: Instructions: 
•    Drafting/design experience with AutoCAD is desired.  Experience with Revit or Navisworks is a plus.
•    Experience adapting standardized facility construction specifications to AFCEC, NAVFAC, and USACE project-specific requirements in SpecsIntact.
