Australia Awards PNG (AAPNG)

Program Goal: To support Papua New Guinea to achieve its development goals through education, knowledge transfer, and institutional capacity building, and to build enduring relationships with Australia.

Australia Awards PNG (AAPNG) supports Papua New Guinea to achieve its development goals through education, knowledge transfer, and institutional capacity building, through enduring relationships with Australia. This is achieved through institution-to-institution partnerships and inclusive collaborations that produces high quality education and strengthens accredited training institutions in PNG.

Key responsibilities

  • Ensure risks for communications, partnerships and public diplomacy are identified and managed in a manner that minimises their likelihood and is in accordance with DFAT expectations.
  • Provide informed advice for communications and public relations, including ideas that address evolving client requirements and stakeholder feedback.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with media and other stakeholders relevant to communications and public diplomacy.
  • Ensure agreed outputs are submitted on time and to a high standard in line with company and DFAT requirements. This includes but is not limited to: quality reporting, milestones, deliverables, data and key performance indicators.

Selection criteria

  • Undergraduate qualifications in communications, marketing, public relations or related field
  • Demonstrated experience in managing communications and/or public relations experience in an international context, covering communication outputs, public relations, promotions, events and media.
  • Demonstrated experience with applying donor branding policy and procedures.
  • High-level English language writing skills, including the ability to write for a variety of different audiences.
  • Experience writing official speeches, talking points and briefings would be highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated experience using graphic design software, particularly Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, is highly desirable.
