The Opportunity:

This position is for a Biologist or Environmental Scientist Intern who will support field surveys and subsequent reporting. This position is temporary and for the summer field season only, from approximately April 2026 through October 2026. We are looking for an enthusiastic scientist who is prepared to learn and grow their experience with biological resources, natural resources, and technical writing. This position requires the candidate to be a U.S. Citizen due to the projects they will be working on.

Responsibilities:

The primary responsibilities for this position include supporting biological/natural resource surveys throughout the United States. Additional responsibilities include:
•    Conducting multiple types of biological/natural resource surveys throughout the United States as needed for project requirements
•    Working on several projects at one time in different phases of the project life and prioritizing work across all projects as assigned to maintain the schedule and ensure data quality (i.e., ensuring timely completion of data quality assurance/quality control and report writing around fieldwork assignments)
•    Supporting writing and review of technical reports.
•    Potentially completing work/surveys outside of biological sciences (Utility Surveys, Water sampling, etc.).
 

 

 Qualifications:

Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelors Degree program in the Natural Sciences or a related discipline.  Some environmental experience, including field work, is required. This experience may include pertinent academic curricula.

•    Ability to work in a collaborative work environment along with a willingness to learn and be adaptable.
•    Ability to conduct field work safely in accordance with Tetra Tech's health and safety policies and the project specific health and safety plan.  
•    Ability to learn and adhere to field procedures and protocols 
•    Excellent organization and oral/written communications skills. 
•    Ability to take clear and accurate field notes by hand or on a tablet/smartphone.
•    Ability to prioritize a variety of assignments in time-critical situations.
•    Ability to analyze available data and draw valid, defensible conclusions.  
•    Schedule must have flexibility to travel (land and/or air), at times on short notice.
•    The successful candidate must possess a valid driver's license in good standing and successfully pass a motor vehicle background check in accordance with company policy.
