Project Summary:
The Increased Demand and Engagement for Accountability (IDEA) Activity is a six-and-a-half-year initiative by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). IDEA aims to support civil society organizations to be more effective in advancing democratic values of citizen participation, government accountability, and rights protection at local and national levels. The IDEA program seeks to support Sri Lankan civil society organizations (CSOs) and CSO-led networks to collaborate more effectively and engage proactively and productively with the government on key issues related to good governance, fundamental rights, gender equality, and sustainable development. IDEA also delivers a comprehensive and targeted capacity building component to support local organizations in developing their organizational and institutional capacities. Initiatives are designed and tailor-made to develop Sri Lankan CSOs technical, management, financial, and monitoring capacities, making them more strategic, inclusive, adaptive, and accountable in performing their role in a democratic society.

Position Summary:
The Graphic Designer will design six informative, engaging, interactive, and easily understood infographics that outline key outcomes, activities, and learnings of the project. These visuals will be used for reporting and knowledge-sharing to the mission and other partners of the IDEA project. The Graphic Designer will produce these infographics working in coordination with the communications and knowledge management team to illustrate and compile the project's learnings, achievements, initiatives, milestones, and significant changes completed.
Responsibilities:
- Use data, text, and narratives to create mock-up sketches or wireframes in the development of project-based infographic layouts and visuals.
- Visualize data, illustrations, and narratives in innovative ways using Adobe Illustrator and other comparable software to effectively tell a story.
- Conceptualize, design, and layout six high-quality, innovative, and informative infographics that incorporate text and information provided by the IDEA team.
- Adhere to USAID branding and marking guidelines, as well as MSI's communications guidelines when required.
- Modify and review the infographics as required, in consultation with the communications and knowledge management team.
- Prepare final media files for use and delivery using Adobe Illustrator to produce finalized product.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in graphic design, animation, or visual arts is required.
- Minimum three years of working experience in graphic design is required.
- Demonstrated experience in infographic work or in creative, visual storytelling, or data visualization is required.
- Experience working on USAID or other large donor-funded projects is preferred.
- Working proficiency in Adobe Illustrator is required.
- Advanced understanding of other Adobe Creative Cloud-related software is preferred.
- Hand-drawn illustration skills are preferred.
- Strong writing and communication skills in English and fluency in at least one national language (Sinhala or Tamil) are required. Proficiency in second language is preferred.
