Summary:

The Geotechnical Engineering Branch Manager will support geotechnical engineering management of clients, projects and staff in the Midland, Texas office including the Permian Basin Area of Texas and New Mexico. The appropriate candidate will be selected for this position to be located in Midland, Texas.

Primary responsibilities include leading, management, and implementation of an existing geotechnical engineering program for Energy, Renewable Energy, and oil and gas clients in the Permian Basin; Texas and New Mexico.  This includes but is not limited to operation of an existing geotechnical engineering program, technical oversight and mentorship of multiple staff engineers, development of clients and working with other lead project engineers and project managers.   

Your Role:

  • Primary responsibilities include management, implementation, and development of the existing geotechnical engineering program for our oil and gas and energy clients.
  • Maintain positive relationships with current clients and develop relationships with new clients.
  • Supervise all geotechnical engineering design. 
  • Manage all geotechnical and related field work, including field testing and sample/data collection, and manage geotechnical engineering design and reporting.
  • Perform geotechnical engineering design for certain projects (i.e. bearing capacity analysis, settlement, slope stability, etc).
  • Mentor/Lead geotechnical teams and staff geotechnical engineers in performing work.
  • Geotechnical recommendations and engineering design of structural foundations, retaining walls, embankments; berms; and site development.
  • Review of geotechnical analytical laboratory data.
  • Maintain or modification of existing geotechnical investigation practice and programs with support of a program manager.
  • Maintain existing laboratory testing programs.
  • Assist with hiring engineering staff.
  • Technical support of geotechnical related construction monitoring and testing.
  • Employee mentoring and training of less experienced engineers and field technicians.
  • Develop work plans, reports and proposals for various types of geotechnical investigations and assessments.
  • Technical report preparation and review.
  • Other duties may be assigned. 

Qualifications:

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must have a minimum of 10 years of related experience be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. 
  • B.S. in  Civil/Geotechnical or Geological Engineering with a geotechnical emphasis from a four-year ABET accredited engineering program required.  M.S. in Civil/Geotechnical is preferred. 
  • Qualified candidates must have passed Principles and Practices of Engineering Exam and be licensed in the State of Texas (licensure in New Mexico or Oklahoma is a plus) or able to be licensed in Texas within six (6) months of employment and licensed in New Mexico within one year. 
  • Experience in renewable energy or oil and gas industry is plus. 
  • Candidate must be highly motivated; customers focused and work well in a team environment. 
  • Candidate must also have the ability to manage and lead project tasks with a heavy workload. 
  • Experience with geotechnical engineering design and modeling software (i.e. Geomaster, Geostudio, Geo-Slope, Seep/Slope, Slide or similar).
  • Candidate must be able and available for travel via land and/or air and possess a valid drivers' license in good standing. 
  • A Pre-employment drug screening in compliance with state regulations is required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
