Project Summary:
The purpose of ENCORE is to increase Jamaica's resilience through a strengthened energy sector delivering more renewable and reliable energy to more people, including marginalized populations. The potential objectives of the Activity include:
- Increased and more reliable grid-connected renewable electricity
- Increased renewable and reliable energy access for marginalized populations
- Improved energy efficiency and conservation
- Enabling environment for energy sector resilience strengthened
Position Summary:
Tetra Tech is seeking Energy Sector Experts based in Jamaica to join our team for the anticipated USAID Jamaica Energy Conservation and Resilience (ENCORE) Activity. Applicants will be considered for inclusion in Tetra Tech's proposal for long-term or short-term assignments. All positions are contingent upon contract award. These positions will be based in Kingston, Jamaica, candidates must be willing to relocate to the project location for the duration of the assignment.
Applicants should be mid- to senior-level experts with experience in one or more of the following working areas:
- Design and implementation of renewable energy and energy efficiency projects
- Renewable energy competitive procurement mechanism
- Electricity reliability and renewable energy interventions for community facilities (e.g. healthcare, education)
- Cost benefit analysis of energy efficiency projects
- Climate change mitigation projects and associated benefits
- Clean energy policy, planning, regulations and incentives
- Energy audits in industry and commercial buildings
- Energy efficiency standards for commercial and industrial appliances
- Program design and implementation for large/scale energy efficiency projects and/or energy conservation
- Commercial financing for renewable energy and energy efficiency projects
- Marketing and promotion of renewable energy and energy efficiency initiatives
- Environmental and social impact assessment and mitigation for renewable energy project
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, business, finance, economics, law, public policy or similar field.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in the energy sector.
- Experience supporting USAID or other donor-funded energy projects in Jamaica and/or the Caribbean.
- Ability to build effective relationships with peers, supervisors, clients, and stakeholders.
- Familiarity with the political, social and cultural context of working in Jamaica and/or the Caribbean.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Fluency in English (reading, writing and presentation skills).
Valued Qualifications:
- Master's degree in a related field
- Prior experience working for national government, international organization and electric utilities
