LS Technologies, a Tetra Tech company, is seeking DevOps Operational Infrastructure Engineer who will provide technical engineering support for the design, development, implementation, and sustainment of FAA cloud infrastructure and DevOps platforms. The DevOps Operational Infrastructure Engineer must have expert knowledge in automation, continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD), and infrastructure management using GitLab, Terraform, and AWS services. The position requires expertise in containerization technologies, including Docker and Red Hat OpenShift, to support the development and deployment of scalable, secure cloud-native applications and services.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Design, implement, and maintain DevOps pipelines using GitLab CI/CD to automate build, test, and deployment processes across multiple environments.
  • Develop and manage Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using Terraform to provision, configure, and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure and associated platform services.
  • Deploy and manage containerized applications using Docker and OpenShift to support FAA enterprise cloud initiatives.
  • Integrate automated security scanning, compliance validation, and monitoring tools into DevOps pipelines to ensure system integrity and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with development, operations, and cybersecurity teams to define and implement cloud architecture, deployment standards, and operational procedures.
  • Maintain system documentation, including architecture diagrams, configuration baselines, and operational guides.
  • Support performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization of AWS and containerized environments.
  • Participate in system design reviews, change management processes, and risk assessments in accordance with FAA and federal program standards.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of DevOps and cloud engineering practices, focusing on automation, scalability, and reliability.

 

Qualifications

 

Required

 

  • Demonstrated experience with GitLab and GitLab CI/CD pipeline development and management.
  • Hands-on experience developing and maintaining Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform.
  • Strong working knowledge of AWS cloud services (e.g., EC2, S3, Lambda, IAM, CloudFormation, CloudWatch).
  • Experience deploying and managing containers using Docker and Red Hat OpenShift.
  • Understanding of DevOps principles, continuous integration, continuous delivery, and configuration management practices.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation.
  • Familiarity with cloud networking, identity management, and security best practices.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to produce high-quality technical documentation.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in systems engineering, DevOps, or cloud infrastructure engineering.
  • Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Terraform Associate, or Red Hat OpenShift Administrator are desirable.

  • Physical requirements:
  • Extended Computer Use: Regular and prolonged periods of working at a computer terminal.
  • Lifting and Carrying: Occasional lifting of equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds may be required during installations or maintenance.
  • Mobility: Ability to move around the office environment to access computer hardware, networking equipment, and server rooms.
  • Dexterity: Manual dexterity and visual acuity to operate computer equipment, troubleshoot issues, and perform tasks requiring precision.
  • Sitting/Standing: Both prolonged sitting and occasional standing may be required for troubleshooting and attending to system issues.
  • Background check: Must have ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust.

Compensation (Pay Bands)  
Salary at LST is determined by a wide array of factors, such as (but not limited to) education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, location, and clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. 
The projected compensation range for this position is provided within the posting and is based on full-time, 40 hour/week status. Part-time staff receive compensation at an hourly rate. The estimated minimum and maximum displayed represents the broadest range for this position (inclusive of high geographic and high clearance requirements) and is just one component of LSTs total compensation package for employees. ** In compliance with local laws, LS Technologies presents this reasonable compensation range as a guideline for roles in California, Colorado, New York, or Washington D.C."
