I. Job Summary The receiving associate is responsible for helping the Receiving Clerk receive merchandise into the store. The individual should be able to keep detailed records, follow established procedures, and organize storage and placement of merchandise. Independent judgment, organizational skills, good writing, and communication skills are needed. Will need to interact with management, customers, and other co-workers. II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities A. Must be familiar and in compliance with Stine Policies and Procedures B. As vendor trucks enter the yard check their paperwork and make sure the material they are delivering is for our store. Validate P.O. is in system. If no P.O. is set up, call G&A office and check with assistant buyer. C. When it is confirmed that the material is for our location -- check the merchandise for damages, shortages, or overages. Make notes on bill of lading any damages, shortages, etc., and have driver sign or initial. Proceed with unloading of merchandise. D. Process P.O. and scan into DOCMAN within one hour of receiving merchandise. E. If item being received is special order -- make sure there are no damages, shortages, or overages. Tag item(s) with green special order tag noting customer's name, address, phone number, and invoice number. Call customer and let them know order is in or give to shipping clerk to deliver. If we are holding merchandise for customer -- highlight special-ordered items on the invoice and note on invoice where merchandise will be located in the yard, then put invoice in will call file. Invoice all special orders when received. F. Receive and check all transfers from other store locations. G. Label all merchandise with a price label or an item number and quantity and tag ready to stock. H. Write up RFA's on all merchandise to be returned to vendors and tag merchandise with an orange RFA tag. I. Fill out all return forms for Richmond water heaters that are defective. J. Answer phone calls from customers concerning the arrival of their orders. K. Help with customer loading when able; general clean-up of the yard and receiving area. L. Help Inventory Controller when able. M. Attend yard meetings and store training meetings. The above duties are not intended, nor should they be considered, a complete list of responsibilities. Times may arise when additional responsibilities are given by management as business necessitates. Job Requirements: III. Qualifications A. Education: Must have a high school education or equivalent. B. Training and Experience: Some experience with building materials is preferred. C. Job Knowledge: Experience in product receiving and equipment use preferred. D. Physical Demands: Work requires much physical effort; involves little sitting, standing, walking, and some heavy lifting on a regular basis. Works in and out of air-conditioned environment.
