Overview
The Department of Finance & Management is recruiting for a Statewide Financial Reporting Analyst III position. This is a limited service position funded through June 30, 2026. The Statewide Financial Reporting Analyst III assists in the preparation of Vermont's Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) for governmental entities. This position performs complex accounting work such as financial statement preparation, preparing accounting footnote disclosures, and developing reports and queries in the State's Accounting system for statewide use. This position will play a key role in the upcoming Workday ERP replacement project. If you have an interest in expanding your accounting knowledge, being part of a Statewide ERP replacement project, and assisting in producing Vermont's award winning ACFR, this position could be for you. A hybrid work schedule may be available, but some in-office days per month will be required.

It is a Limited Service position, which is non-tenured and authorized for a specific period of time. Limited Service positions are established for specially funded projects or programs.

Work is performed in a computer environment involving considerable interaction with agencies and departments. Significant pressure from deadlines is present. Some work outside of normal duty hours can be anticipated. Some travel to customer locations may be required for which private means of transportation is required.
Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in accounting AND five (5) years or more of professional level experience in governmental accounting, auditing, or financial management including significant experience with governmental GAAP.
OR
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license AND three (3) year or more of professional level experience in governmental accounting, auditing, or financial management including significant experience with governmental GAAP.
Note: Professional level is defined as experience in assisting in the interpretation and application of Governmental Accounting Standard Board's accounting and financial reporting requirements.
