Overview

The Homeland Security Program Administrator is responsible for fiscal and program development for the Homeland Security Unit within the Department of Public Safety. Duties include budgetary, program, and grant administration as well as policy and program development. Additional duties involve contact with high level business and industry representatives and coordination with other state government agencies, regional and local response organizations, and other professionals. Supervision may be exercised over a professional and technical staff. Work is performed under the direction of the Homeland Security Program Chief and includes oversight and management of a multimillion dollar budget.

PUBLIC SAFETY BACKGROUND CHECKS: Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position to include Motor Vehicle/Criminal Records, Personal History, Credit and any additional background check(s).

Environmental Factors

Work is performed in a standard office setting. Attendance at a variety of meetings may require work outside of normal business hours and some travel, for which private means of transportation must be available.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate degree or higher in business management, accounting, finance, or related field AND one (1) or one or more years of experience in an administrative role, which includes accounting or finance responsibilities, or related field. 

OR

Five (5) or more years of experience in an administrative role, which includes accounting or finance responsibilities, or related field. 

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree.

Experience or education in homeland security or protective services.

Experience with project management.

Special Requirements

Must pass a federal secret clearance to retain employment. This may take longer than the normal six (6) month probationary period but employment in this position may be terminated for failure to obtain a secret clearance. Employment in this position may also be terminated if the employee is not able to maintain a secret clearance.
