Overview

The Office of Disability Determination Services (DDS) in the Department for Children and Families (DCF) administers the Social Security Disability program in Vermont. We are seeking an individual to serve as technical expert in all aspects of DDS IT systems administration, case processing systems, LAN administration, and network infrastructure.

 

The preferred candidate will have experience in the following areas: Microsoft Server, Microsoft Windows, Active Directory, MS Exchange, laptop and server hardware and imaging, file security, SQL, M365, and general knowledge of applications using AI. Candidates should possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, adaptability to effectively collaborate with colleagues who have diverse backgrounds to build and foster positive working relationships.


DDS offers a hybrid telework option, requiring at least three days in the office each week. AHS BACKGROUND CHECKS: Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position.  In accordance with AHS Policy 4.02, Hiring Standards, Vermont and/or national criminal record checks, as well as DMV and adult and child abuse registry checks, as appropriate to the position under recruitment, will be conducted on candidates, with the exception of those who are current classified state employees seeking transfer, promotion or demotion into an AHS classified position or are persons exercising re-employment (RIF) rights.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed in a hybrid telework/office environment. The role involves constant interaction with office staff, including management, supervisors, support staff, adjudicators and medical consultants who may advocate strongly for their positions and IT needs, which requires tact and diplomacy to balance the competing priorities. The position also interacts with many outside stakeholders, including SSA, vendors and state systems personnel. Must be able to communicate and interact directly with management and employees at varying degrees of system skill sets as well as varying levels of authority. Conflicting priorities and operational problems must be anticipated; competing priorities and tight deadlines are a frequent occurrence.
 

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science AND two (2) or more years of experience in computer or network support, programming or analysis, or database administration.

OR

Associate's degree in computer science AND four (4) or more years of experience in computer or network support, programming or analysis, or database administration.

OR

Five (5) or more years of experience in computer or network support, programming or analysis, or database administration.

Preferred Qualifications

Two (2) years or more of experience supporting SSA and DDS systems and applications with considerable knowledge of the SSA/DDS case processing systems.
 

Special Requirements

All candidates must pass applicable State background checks in accordance with AHS Policy 4.02, Hiring Standards, State of Vermont tax compliance and criminal record checks, and Federal requirements for all DDS employees, including fingerprinting for FBI clearance and a Federal Public Trust background investigation.
