Overview

The Correctional Facility Superintendent serves as the senior operational leader of the Vermont Department of Corrections' Northeast Correctional Complex in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, a regional correctional facility complex that includes an integrated workcamp housing a range of lower-risk incarcerated individuals. The Superintendent has 24/7 responsibility for institutional operations and ensures the safety and security of incarcerated individuals, staff, and the public while overseeing the delivery of custody, treatment, education, and rehabilitative programming. The role directs facility operations through subordinate staff; manages security systems, classification, care, and daily living functions; and leads emergency response efforts. The position also includes oversight of staffing, budgeting, policy implementation, and external engagement, requiring effective leadership, sound judgment, and the ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.

 

The expected salary range as per the DOC Facility Superintendant pay play (click here) is between $97,947 and $145,454 based on experience and qualifications.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates should possess five (5) or more years of progressively responsible experience in the field of corrections, including at least two (2) years administering, managing, or supervising rehabilitative, security, or correctional programs/services.
