Role: Automation Architect

Location: Bellville, Cape Town, South Africa

Hybrid travel: 6 days a month in the office

The Opportunity

You will work collaboratively as part of an agile team to design, develop, and deploy RPA automations across the business unit to drive operational efficiency and quality targets, as well as provide technical assistance and support to the business users of deployed automations as required.

This role is part of the Business Transformation team responsible for delivering strategic projects to reengineer business processes, introducing efficiencies and driving higher levels of service for clients. Success will require you to partner, coordinate, or lead activities and communications across multiple functional areas of SS&C Retirement Solutions, including Service, Operations, and Risk teams.

What You Will Get To Do:

  • Execute rapid deployment of small to medium-sized intelligent automation projects through the design, development and deployment of optimised automations using the appropriate tools
  • Support existing processes and implement change requirements as part of a structured change control process
  • Resolve issues that arise in the day-to-day running of automated processes and provide timely responses and solutions as required
  • Maintenance and enhancement of existing RPA processes
  • Create technical development and release documents to complement the design and requirement documents provided by the Analysis team, as needed
  • Complete Full Unit testing as well as troubleshooting UAT / volume testing
  • Lead and coordinate design or code reviews to ensure necessary standards are adhered to, and feedback is acted upon
  • Provide mentorship to junior developers as needed, to support broader internal AI Champion initiatives, based on SS&C best practices and standards
  • Provide accurate estimates and communicate project development progress updates

What You Will Bring:

  • A Master's degree, or Bachelor's degree and 5 years of related experience; educational focus on data science, computer science, engineering or related field is preferred.
  • Be a results-oriented individual with proven ability to operate independently, with guidance in only the most complex scenarios and as a team player with a demonstrated track record of success working within a fast-paced, complex and matrixed organisation
  • Communicate and facilitate effectively, with the ability to bridge technical and non-technical audiences
  • Possess strong solution design skills with the ability to translate business requirements into scalable, maintainable technical solutions
  • Have a strong understanding of intelligent automation technologies, workflow orchestration, AI, RPA, and system integration patterns
  • Demonstrate a proficiency in developing solutions within Microsoft Power Solutions (e.g., Power Automate, Power BI, etc.)
    • Familiarity with, or working knowledge of, SS&C's Blue Prism or Work HQ automation solutions is a plus
  • Have a foundational knowledge of data architecture, reporting, analytics, and dashboard design to enable operational transparency and performance management
    • Familiarity with recordkeeping operations and operating environments is preferred
  • Understand best-in-class project management approaches, frameworks and concepts
  • Operate with an Agile delivery mindset, with demonstrated experience managing priorities and iterating solutions
