As the Formulations Manager – Process Cheese, you will be responsible for providing leadership and direction to Formulations personnel within Schreiber Operations. You are responsible for the integrity of the company's formulation processes to assure product identity and functionality requirements are met. As the Formulations Manager in this position, you will assist in recommending, developing and monitoring formulation policies and procedures to ensure formula optimization. You will guide the Formulations teams in maintaining and improving formulations systems. You will work closely with Research & Development, Enterprise Quality and Purchasing to implement formulations techniques and variations to utilize available raw materials to provide low formula costs while retaining product identity and functionality requirements.
This position will be located in either our home office in Green Bay, Wisconsin or one of our Southwest, Missouri manufacturing facilities. Travel will be expected up to 50% of the time.
What you'll do:
- Optimize product formulas within customer specifications and the C.F.R.
- Creates measures and audits of our processes to monitor and ensure compliance to product identity and functionality requirements within our facilities.
- Analyze our system for risks and prioritize initiatives based upon opportunities and risks which will be most efficient in terms of cost and/or utilization.
- Main focus will be formulations of Process Cheese Products
- Develops and measures the Process Cheese products accountability function.
- Develops and implements standards, goals/objectives to assure daily process accountabilities are in place and accurate.
- Provide technical assistance in terms of data acquisition and technical training in dairy fundamentals. Establishes on-going development program/processes to assure formulations personnel are current on the latest use of raw materials, processing equipment and procedures.
- Assures product identity requirements are followed.
- Along with Finance, assures formula costing is accurately reflected within the Standard Cost System.
- Together with the leadership team, ensures compliance with Food Safety and Food Quality Plans, in addition to customer requirements. Interprets and communicates customer requirements to plant production and/or support groups. Establishes and Audits PCPs, CCPs and Standard Operating Procedures to define and monitor processes, to ensure customer requirements are met. Reviews incidents during which the procedures are not met and determines appropriate corrective action for partners failing to follow standard procedures.
What you need to succeed:
- Bachelors in Food/Dairy Science or related field.
- 5-7 years of experience in Formulations, Research or Operations.
- Proven troubleshooting and leadership of technical personnel.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, effective communicator, results oriented.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute a strategy.
- Recognized as an individual who works well cross functionally to achieve established goals and objectives.
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Ability to travel up to 50%
