Major Purpose: Responsible for implementing and executing the safety, health, and environmental (SH&E) plan providing for SH&E in the assigned Unit and meeting site-specific SH&E strategy requirements. Responsibilities / Job Duties: Work closely with all operations managers and implement all safety-related portions of Savage's S7 System Development and delivery of procedural and regulatory training Support execution of our customer's operating requirements Establish a proactive SH&E process towards incident prevention Ensure all work is performed in compliance with regulatory requirements Ensure Team Members follow proper safety rules and processes Implement and conduct training to ensure all Team Members are properly trained to perform their work safely. Regularly review assigned training courses for accuracy and timely completion Ensure regulatory (EPA, DOT, and OSHA) compliance; ensure all permits and reports are properly completed and submitted Interface with key customer SH&E and operations contacts and assist operations in implementing and executing customer-driven programs or emphasis areas (including involvement with each Refinery's Contractor Safety Team activities) Steward the Safety Specialist Program Ensure incidents are properly reported to internal and external parties Lead Savage team on customer safety audits Lead the root cause investigation process when events happen Spend adequate time in the field with front-line Team Members and observe field activities Track leading indicators to address trends Complete ride-along with drivers on a regular basis Requirements/Qualifications: Broad knowledge and understanding of DOT, including fleet management and FMCSA, with some knowledge of environmental Ability to analyze situations and data and make sound decisions Training experience preferred Computer skills (MS Office Suite) Excellent communication skills: written and spoken; excellent organizational skills & and multi-tasking abilities Impeccable integrity Detail-oriented and self-starter, with the ability to prioritize tasks Sets the standard for safety, professionalism, and performance Excellent people skills – good listener and communicator, both written and oral Responds well to high-pressure situations Has “Ownership” spirit Treats people fairly, with dignity and respect Embraces and teaches company culture TWIC CARD Preferred Education/Experience: Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in an SH&E discipline is preferred 3-5 years experience working in the DOT/FMCSA compliance field Hold a safety certification recognized by an accredited organization or be able to obtain certification within the first 12 months. Examples include CSP, SMS, OHST, or CET. Experience within a refinery is preferred Physical Requirements: 10% travel required Ability to climb ladders, racks, and tanks Ability to walk on uneven surfaces Ability to work indoors in an office environment, as well as outdoors in changing weather conditions Willing to always wear appropriate PPE when needed and set the example #IND
