Position Description:
The Information System Security Officer (ISSO) is responsible for ensuring the security, integrity, and compliance of information systems supporting Delta 10 at Patrick SFB, Florida. This role is critical to the protection of organizational assets and the successful execution of Delta 10's mission, which includes planning, development, and execution of wargames, concept evaluation, and large-scale field experimentation focused on space and cyber implications within all-domain structures. The ISSO will directly support Delta 10/S6 Directorate systems, including Bldg 991 and the Wargame Center, and will play a key role in maintaining compliance with federal regulations and standards such as NIST, FISMA, and DoD requirements.
The ISSO will implement, manage, and enforce cybersecurity policies and procedures, ensuring that information systems are secure and compliant with applicable regulations. The role requires strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills, as well as the ability to operate independently and collaborate with system owners, administrators, and other stakeholders. The ISSO will also provide security training and awareness to system users and administrators, and report security status and incidents to management and regulatory authorities as required.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain security policies, procedures, and controls for information systems, ensuring compliance with NIST SP 800-53, FISMA, DoD RMF, and other applicable regulations.
- Conduct risk assessments, vulnerability scans, and security audits to identify and mitigate potential threats to information systems.
- Monitor systems for security incidents, respond to threats in accordance with incident response plans, and coordinate with incident response teams as needed.
- Prepare and maintain security documentation, including System Security Plans (SSPs), Plans of Action and Milestones (POAMs), and accreditation packages.
- Provide security training and awareness to system users and administrators, fostering a culture of cybersecurity within the organization.
- Coordinate with system owners, administrators, and other stakeholders to address security requirements and ensure the implementation of effective security controls.
- Report security status and incidents to management and regulatory authorities, maintaining clear and accurate records of security activities.
- Support Delta 10 mission activities, including wargame development, planning, execution, and integration of US and aligned commercial, civil, and international capabilities focused on space and cyber implications.
- Participate in the identification and clarification of current and future warfighting problems, and contribute to the exploration and enhancement of technological solutions to address capability gaps and requirements.
- Support activities within Special Access Programs (SAPs), Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), and Collateral environments, ensuring eligibility for access to Special Access Program Information and willingness to submit to a Counterintelligence polygraph.
Technical Competencies:
- Experience in information system security, risk management, and compliance, with a strong understanding of federal cybersecurity standards and frameworks (e.g., NIST, FISMA, RMF).
- Proficiency in conducting risk assessments, vulnerability scans, and security audits, and in preparing and maintaining security documentation.
- Knowledge of incident response procedures and the ability to monitor systems for security incidents and respond effectively to threats.
- Familiarity with security training and awareness programs, and the ability to provide guidance to system users and administrators.
- Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to operate independently and collaborate with stakeholders.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, Security+, CAP, CISM) preferred.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience) with minimum 3–10 years of experience supporting U.S. Space Force, Air Force, or equivalent DoD/IC as an ISSO or similar
- Experience in information system security, risk management, and compliance.
- Knowledge of federal cybersecurity standards and frameworks (e.g., NIST, FISMA, RMF).
- Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, Security+, CAP, CISM) preferred.
Security Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship and active TS/SCI clearance with eligibility for access to Special Access Program information.
- Personnel shall maintain Top Secret / SCI clearance with access to Special Access Programs (SAP) and Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs) as required. Current CI poly preferred.
- Active Polygraph or willingness to take a Polygraph.
Workload & Availability:
- Full-time onsite support at Patrick SFB, FL.
- Travel up to 25% for coordination, experiments, or wargaming events.
Experience Level:
- 10+ years of experience and a BA/BS degree in related field
