JOB DESCRIPTION: SAIC, in support of the GEARS contract at NASA Glenn Research Center, is seeking a senior level Systems Engineer to provide Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) support for the Power Propulsion Element (PPE) program. The candidate will perform SE&I duties that include requirements development and management, concept of operations development, and interface subsystem definition and management. In addition, other duties may include, technical assessments of internal integrated analyses as well as partner provided systems engineering data and reports, verification and validation for planning and development, and planning of the assembly, integration, and functional and operational testing of the spacecraft. The Systems Engineer will perform duties in support of PPE that require knowledge and experience in systems engineering practices, and applicants with space flight hardware experience are preferred.
Experience with systems engineering principals and processes such as those used by NASA, DoD, or similar organizations.
Experience with space-based applications regarding the following:
Interface definition and management
Assembly, integration, and test
Verification and validation for planning and execution
Must be a flexible team player with excellent oral and written communication skills
Other Desired Skills:
Background or experience with NASA Systems Engineering principals and processes
Background or experience with subsystem assembly, integration, and test of NASA space-based applications
TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree and more than 10 years of experience; or
Master's degree and 6-15 years of experience; or
PhD and 0-3 years of experience
In Science/Engineering related field.
