SAIC is seeking a highly motivated and forward-thinking Systems Engineer/Integrator (Non-Core) with a strong background in project management and familiarity with the NRO acquisition process. The candidate will be supporting the development as well as transition and integration of newly developed technologies into current or future NRO satellite ground systems. The candidate will also work with other SEs from GED offices to develop and understanding of the SPO's challenges in meeting requirements, gaps in capabilities with purpose of identifying opportunities for AGO to develop projects that help meet requirements, reduce risk to the SPOs, and/or demonstrate proofs of concept. The position will also entail working with our agile R&D team on project definition, development, and evaluation of results with intent to transition the new developed capabilities into operational baseline/systems. The ideal candidate will develop efficient solutions that align with business gals and technological advancements by leveraging their multi-cloud and cross domain expertise. This position is in Chantilly, VA. 

 

Daily activities include (but are not limited to):

  • Conduct regular reviews of systems and processes to identify opportunities for cost-saving, improved performance, and system consolidation
  • Lead system architecture and engineering efforts across the program collaborating with Govt stakeholders, Sis, and performers developing new systems that will be delivered into production
  • Provide comprehensive acquisition and program management support
  • Develop and refine project plans, schedules, and milestones in alignment with program objectives
  • Coordinate and facilitate meetings between engineering teams, performers, and stakeholders to ensure clear communication, and task alignment
  • Monitor project timelines and deliverables, alerting leadership to potential risks or deviations from project plan.
  • Liaise with various teams and departments to ensure the availability of necessary resources (e.g., compute resources, tools, and data)
  • Regularly report project progress to senior management and stakeholders, highlighting key achievements, risks, and next steps.
  • Draft key acquisition docs (e.g., SOWs, Acquisition Strategies, RFPs/RFIs)
  • Provide Strategic programmatic analysis and recommendations throughout the acquisition cycle
  • Monitor and analyze contract requirements, performance metrics, budgets, and schedules
  • Recommend improvements for acquisition planning and management processes
  • Participate in identifying and coordinating actions across the team

Qualifications

Required Education: 

  • Bachelors and five (5) years or more experience; Masters and three (3) years or more experience; PhD and 0 years related experience

Required Experience:

  • Extensive background in systems engineering and integration.
  • Experience in leading system architecture and engineering efforts, collaborating with government stakeholders, and developing new systems.
  • Familiarity with the NRO acquisition process and comprehensive understanding of acquisition and program management support.
  • Experience in drafting key acquisition documents such as SOWs, Acquisition Strategies, and RFPs/RFIs.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience working with agile R&D teams on project definition, development, and evaluation of results with intent to transition new capabilities into operational systems.
  • Ability to liaise with various teams and departments to ensure the availability of necessary resources, such as compute resources, tools, and data.
  • Understanding of the SPO's challenges in meeting requirements, and gaps in capabilities, and identifying opportunities for developing projects to meet those requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal skill with effective technical writing and briefing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic and energetic setting.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS office applications.

Clearance: 

  • Current TS/SCI clearance with current poly.
