We are currently seeking a motivated Systems Administrator to join our talented team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining an organization's computer systems, networks, and software, ensuring smooth operation by troubleshooting technical issues, managing security protocols, and performing regular system updates, while requiring strong problem-solving skills, proficiency in operating systems, networking knowledge, and effective communication to collaborate with various stakeholders.

Work is performed on site in Norfolk, VA and Virginia Beach, VA.

This position is contingent upon award news Spring of 2026.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform high-level, day-to-day operational maintenance, support, and upgrades for complex operating systems, workstations and servers.
  • Assist with software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages.
  • Assist with installations and upgrades and maintain them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures.
  • Continually monitor and tune multiple systems to achieve optimum performance levels.
  • Ensure workstation/server data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions of varying complexities.
  • Ensure data/media recoverability by adhering to a schedule of system backups and database archive operations.
  • Plan and implement the modernization of servers.
  • Conduct hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
  • Work closely with Network and Systems Analysts to help determine and develop the systems that will be implemented.
  • Work with other IT teams to resolve complex issues and coordinate projects.
  • Stay abreast with emerging technologies and industry best practices in the IT field.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's level degree in Electrical/Electronic/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Systems.
  • Three (3) years professional experience in systems administration.
  • Proficiency in managing various operating systems like Windows, Linux, or macOS.
  • Understanding network protocols, topologies, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Deep understanding of security best practices, including firewalls, intrusion detection, and data encryption.
  • Ability to analyze complex technical issues and find effective solutions.
  • Clear and concise communication with both technical and non-technical users, including explaining complex issues in layman's terms.
  • Ability to write scripts to automate repetitive tasks and improve efficiency. 
  • Working effectively with other IT team members, developers, and end-users to resolve issues.
  • Keeping up-to-date with emerging technologies and adapting to changing IT landscapes.
  • Working knowledge of network administration and troubleshooting of Cisco routing and switching.
  • Experience administering VMware ESXi, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and Windows Server Operating Systems.

Required Certificate:

  • Must possess a Department of Defense (DoD) 8570 CSWF certification.

Required Security Clearance:

  • US Citizenship required.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance.
    • Active Interim Secret or final Secret clearance is preferred.
