SAIC is seeking a Software Test Engineer to provide onsite support to the THAAD Trainers Team at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama. This position plays a critical role in supporting the U.S. Army's institutional training mission for the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) weapon system. 

Seeking an Entry‑Level Software Test Engineer position supporting a multidisciplinary team of software, test, and systems engineers responsible for developing, testing, and maintaining complex training software. Adept at working in environments that require both self‑direction and close collaboration, contributing to high‑quality, actionable requirements and reliable system performance for mission‑critical THAAD Trainer solutions.

 

Program Overview 

The THAAD Trainers team within the S3I organization at Redstone Arsenal provides comprehensive support to meet the Army's requirement for institutional training across all aspects of THAAD operations and maintenance. The mission is executed through the Institutional Conduct of Fires Trainer (ICOFT), an integrated training environment designed to replicate operational conditions and enhance soldier proficiency. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Create, document, and execute manual test plans and test cases 

  • Support the team by identifying, documenting, and tracking defects

  • Participate in test planning activities
  • Collaborate with developers and testers in a fast‑paced, agile environment

Qualifications

Required Education

  • BS degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline and zero (0) or more years of relevant experience

 

Clearance Requirements:

  • Active Secret security clearance (US Citizenship required)

 

Required Qualifications

  • Detail-oriented and highly organized

  • Ability to think critically and logically

  • Excellent written and verbal communication 

  • Thrives in fast-paced, collaborative environments

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Coursework or projects related to software testing or quality assurance

  • Exposure to software development life cycles (SDLC) and agile methodologies

  • Experience with bug-tracking or test management tools specifically Jira
