SAIC is seeking a passionate and skilled Software Systems Engineer Team Manager to join our high-performing development team in Bedford, IN.

You will lead a team of software developers/engineers to accomplish technical challenges, design, implement, and maintain complex Java-based applications in a fast-paced environment. Your proficiency in Java development and adherence to best practices will ensure the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and efficient software solutions.  You will collaborate with product managers, architects, and cross-functional teams to understand requirements and deliver solutions aligning with client objectives and goals. The successful candidate will utilize strong problem-solving skills with industry best practices to deliver new functionality and upgrade existing features

JOB DUTIES:

  • Lead team of software developers/engineers to accomplish technical challenges
  • Demonstrate creativity, foresight and mature engineering judgment in anticipating and solving unprecedented engineering problems, determining program objectives and requirements, organizing programs and projects, and developing standards for diverse engineering activities.
  • Ability to design, deploy, and manage cloud-based applications and services.
  • Design and develop computer software, architectures and systems to solve myriad programming, integration and execution challenges.
  • Direct and coordinate fabrication and installation activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and customer specifications.
  • Develop unique and innovative solutions to automate complex functions for speed, accuracy, efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Proven leadership experience, including managing and mentoring development teams. 
  • Develop methods and procedures for testing products or systems.
  • Create and maintain programmatic and technical documentation to insure efficient planning and execution.
  • Interface and collaborate with teams including individuals from external organizations.
  • Execute tasking using DoDI 5000.87 acquisition standards when developing schedules, strategies, and financial planning. 

Qualifications

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND CLEARANCE:

  • Bachelor's degree and fourteen (14) years' experience; master's degree and twelve (12) years' experience.  Degree in Computer, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering or Computer Science or Mathematics with concentration in Computer Science required (Master's degree preferred)
  • 7+ years of professional experience in computer design, software development, or computer networks
  • Proficient in C, C++, and Java
  • Extensive Linux experience (with C, C++, Java)
  • Tactical networking experience
  • Experience with Simulation environments (NGTS, AFSIM, others) and data standards (DIS, HLA)
  • Possess ONE of the following active certifications: CompTIA Security+ CE, CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, CND, SSCP, CSSLP, CISSP, ECSP or SECURE C++
  • Interim secret clearance required with the ability to obtain a secret clearance.  SAIC will sponsor the clearance process.
  • Must be a US Citizen

DESIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • 5+ years DODI 5000.87 acquisition management, software life cycle management, and DOD cyber security
  • Python coding capability
  • Experience with Enhanced Battlespace Reconnaissance, Intelligence, and Surveillance Software (EBRISS) Core (ECORE)
  • Experience working with teams that follow Scrum/Agile development practices.
  • Strong troubleshooter who leverages unit testing and static code analyzers.
  • AI/ML computer vision experience
  • Military intelligence, ground based and/or air operations surveillance.
  • Active secret clearance preferred
