SAIC is currently looking for information technology professionals who are interested in supporting the Air Force National Capital Region Information Technology Services (AF NCR ITS) as technical, logistics, and subject matter experts (SMEs).
The AF NCR ITS Team will provide professional, administrative, technical, logistics, and management support for the U.S. Air Force's 844th Communications Group (844 CG) as the service provider to the Air Force District of Washington AFDW. For the AFDW and Air Force units throughout the NCR, the 844 CG mission includes supporting and providing input for accomplishing the programming, budgeting, financing, implementation, operations, support, and maintenance of assigned technology systems, including critical support for the Office of the Secretary of the Air Force and elements of the Headquarters, U.S. Air Force. Support requires work to have work performed at Joint Base Andrews (Andrews AFB) in Maryland.
This specific position will support Systems Engineering and Installation. The enginering team will:
a) Provide dedicated engineering support to functional areas of the contract as described in this PWS, including requirement development, analysis of alternatives (AoA), requirement approval boards, and resolution of enterprise, network, or customer outages.
b) Provide engineering solutions for the design, integration, installation, testing, application of IA Controls, and lifecycle support of existing and upgraded systems and services. This includes Government-approved initiatives associated with delivery of infrastructure capabilities as defined by the enterprise architecture.
c) Coordinate with facility manager and base civil engineer on IT design plans as applicable. Ensure sufficient environmental and power resources are part of the design.
d) Provide the material solution, complete with all artifacts (e.g., diagrams, documentation, Engineering Installation Plans (EIPs), configurations) in support of Assessment and Authorization (A&A) activities for systems and services sustainment and operations.
e) Employ disciplined engineering processes in accomplishing contract taskings using industry best practices to ensure fulfillment of acceptance criteria, effective change management, and mitigating requirements creep.
f) Ensure alignment with DoD Architectural Framework (DoDAF) “As-Is” Operational Baseline and “To-Be” Architecture directives and policies.
g) Be familiar with virtualization technologies, cloud computing (public and private), and associated models for Software as a Service (SaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Infrastructure as a Service(IaaS).Systems Engineering and Installation

Ensures the logical ad systematic conversion of requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate requirements into hardware and software specification. Provides specific, detailed information for selection, implementation techniques, and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements, facility requirements (including floor layout, power & cooling, network connectivity), data storage, backup, monitoring, operations systems, directory services, identity management, access management, and automation. Complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the field. General knowledge of other related disciplines. Receives assignments in the form of objectives and establishes goals to meet outlined objectives. Provides direction to employees according to established policies and management guidance. Work is reviewed by management to measure whether objectives have been met.
TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors and five (5) years or more experience; Masters and three (3) years or more experience; PhD and 0 years related experience.
