SAIC is looking to hire a Senior Field Technician to support the Joint Range Extension (JRE) team in Canberra, Australia. The Australian Defense Force (ADF) currently utilize a range of Joint Range Extension (JRE) software and hardware products, manufactured or supplied by the Contractor, in a range of configurations and systems. These JRE products provide a range of functions to the ADF that contribute to the overall Tactical Information Exchange Domain.
The JRE products that the ADF uses have been acquired, over time, by a variety of Defense organizations with varying levels of support. Defense now requires a coordinated approach to the support of the JRE products that will provide a more efficient and effective means of sustainment.
This role will be responsible for interacting with customers, both over the phone and on site, in order to provide them with the expertise needed to successfully execute their mission. In addition to providing first tier customer support, the JRE Mission Support team is also needed to travel to customer locations throughout Australia, for Information Assurance updates, teaching classes, installations, troubleshooting systems and more.
The JRE program has been supporting the war fighter for over 20 years. Starting out as an Air Force program (JTEP), the JRE is now supporting all branches of the United States military. In addition to support throughout the US, SAIC has established an Australian JRE Support Contract, supporting software and hardware solutions throughout the Australian Defense Forces.
JOB DUTIES:
The Senior Field Technician shall provide Help Desk Services to:
- All ADF units that are identified, as a user of the JRE related software and/or hardware; Commonwealth Personnel involved in the provision of support and enabling services to ADF users; Associated Parties, identified in writing to the Contractor that are providing support and/or enabling services to the Commonwealth.
Help Desk Services shall include:
- Resolution of operational queries and assistance to staff in the performance of their normal duties.
- Provision of technical operation and Maintenance advice and direction to Commonwealth Personnel on matters relating to the function and performance of the applicable Products, operational and Maintenance procedures for Commonwealth Personnel, spares and repair parts and Maintenance Consumables, and vendor or third party support.
- Provision of management and coordination of maintenance ‘site call-out', when requested by the Commonwealth Representative.
- JRE Australia Help Desk Services shall be operated 24/7. Support shall be provided by Australian based staff during Working Hours and may be provided by remote staff (for example US based staff) during Non-Working Hours.
Additional Tasks and responsibilities:
- 24/7 Mission Support and JTEP Technical Service Desk phone support;
- Return Merchandise Authority troubleshooting and resolution;
- JRE operator/maintainer Training;
- On-site customer support throughout Australia (up to 40% travel);
- JRE Demonstrations;
- Information Assurance updates;
- Shipping JRE hardware and JRE drives;
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelors in science, engineering, or computer related discipline and five (5) years or more experience; Masters and three (3) years or more experience; PhD and 0 years related experience. Years of experience in lieu of degree to be reviewed.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Must have an Active Secret Clearance
- Minimum of 2 years of Link 16/JREAP/TDL, or equivalent experience
- Positive can-do attitude with a good work ethic
