To address the growing demands within the Department of Defense, SAIC is seeking a highly skilled and dynamic Senior Data Engineer to join our Digital and AI Team as we embark on a large initiative to lead the design and operate integrated Enterprise IT solutions that deliver AI-enabled capabilities and enable data-driven decision making to missions across the Department, Services, and Combatant Commands. 

The Ideal candidate will be adept at managing customer relationships, driving operational excellence, and fostering continuous improvement across all service areas.   

Core Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver standardized enterprise data, analytics, and AI products and services throughout the DoD.
  • Establish a comprehensive framework of standardized data, analytic, and AI products and services.
  • Enable the DoD to leverage advanced technologies for data-driven decision making and insights.
  • Deliver automated data movement capabilities, alerting, and data drift detection throughout the data lifecycle across the Operating Environment.
  • Manage enterprise, automated cross-domain capabilities, and solutions to federate data from the Advana system and other customer environments to data environments used by Military Services, Combatant Commands, DoD agencies, and Federal Agencies.
  • Manage automated solutions to ingress and egress data from the Advana platform and other data platforms using enterprise application program interfaces (API).
  • Design, build, operate, and maintain data and AI model connections for the Advana System across all Advana CSP/Security Environments.
  • Support the establishment of automated data connections across the Operating Environment for government-directed use cases.
  • Maintain existing standard data connection methods, both inbound and outbound, across the Operating Environment. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and fourteen (14) years or more of related experience; Master's degree and twelve (12) years or more experience; PhD or JD and nine (9) years or more experience.
  • Proven experience in developing and delivering standardized enterprise data, analytics, and AI products and services, preferably within the DoD environment and establishing comprehensive frameworks. 
  • Strong ability to leverage advanced technologies for data-driven decision making and insights.
  • Experience delivering automated data movement capabilities, including alerting and data drift detection, throughout the data lifecycle.
  • Proficiency in managing enterprise, automated cross-domain capabilities and solutions to federate data from various environments to data environments. 
  • Demonstrated ability to design, build, operate, and maintain data and AI model connections across various CSP/Security Environments.
  • Strong skills in maintaining standard data connection methods, both inbound and outbound, across complex operating environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing data and AI initiatives at an enterprise level, particularly within the DoD or other federal agencies.
  • US citizenship and a Secret security clearance is required.  

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Relevant industry certifications, such as CISSP, CISM, CCSP, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect, or equivalent.
  • Experience with DoD Architecture Framework (DoDAF) and other military-specific frameworks and standards.
  • Extensive experience with cloud service providers (CSPs), particularly AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, in secure and classified environments.
  • Strong understanding of and experience with advanced data management tools and techniques, including ETL processes, data warehousing, and data lakes.
  • Familiarity with machine learning and AI model development, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Experience with enterprise API management and integration.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and practices, including experience with Zero Trust architectures.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership, Military Services, Combatant Commands, and other federal agencies.
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing training and certification programs for technical personnel.
  • Experience with agile development methodologies and DevOps practices.
  • Ability to adapt to changing technology landscapes and drive continuous innovation within the organization.
