 We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Word Processor II to join our talented team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating, editing, and formatting complex documents using word processing software, often including advanced features like tables, graphics, and intricate formatting, while ensuring accuracy and adhering to established style guides; key responsibilities include document creation from dictation or rough drafts, proofreading, data compilation, and assisting with document design, requiring strong proficiency in word processing applications and attention to detail.

Work is performed on site in Norfolk, VA and Virginia Beach, VA.

This position is contingent upon award news Spring of 2026.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Transcribe dictation or rough drafts into polished documents.
  • Create, edit, and revise complex documents like reports, presentations, letters, and forms.
  • Incorporate edits and revisions from multiple sources.
  • Manage document versions and track changes.
  • Utilize advanced formatting features like tables, columns, headers, footers, and styles.
  • Design and apply custom formatting to ensure consistent document appearance.
  • Integrate graphics and images into documents
  • Thoroughly proofread documents for grammatical errors, spelling mistakes, and punctuation inconsistencies.
  • Ensure accuracy of data and formatting.
  • Gather information from various sources to compile into comprehensive documents.
  • Extract data from existing documents to create new reports or summaries
  • Collaborate with team members to understand document requirements and ensure accuracy
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to clarify document needs and deadlines
  • Organize and retrieve information efficiently.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Two (2) years of experience with Microsoft Word.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of advanced features in Microsoft Word or similar applications.
  • Knowledge of other relevant software applications, such as spreadsheets or database programs.
  • Ability to identify and correct errors in grammar, punctuation, and formatting.
  • Efficient keyboarding skills to produce documents quickly.
  • Manage multiple documents and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Ability to create visually appealing documents with appropriate formatting and layout.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to identify and resolve issues independently.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

Required Security Clearance:

  • US Citizenship required.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance.
    • Active Interim Secret or final Secret clearance is preferred.
