SAIC is looking for a Summer Intern, Engineering Technician I in Bedford, IN to support the CAC2S program supported under the U.S. Navy.
The Engineering Technician I will perform simple, routine tasks under close supervision or guided by detailed procedures. Their work will be closely checked during progress or upon completion to ensure accuracy and quality. This position is ideal for entry-level professionals or those seeking to gain foundational technical experience in an engineering environment.
Job Responsibilities:
The primary duties of the Engineering Technician I role include but are not limited to:
- Assemble or install equipment or parts requiring basic skills such as simple wiring, soldering, or connecting components under supervision.
- Conduct simple tasks or tests such as tensile or hardness tests.
- Operate and adjust basic test equipment, ensuring proper procedures are followed.
- Record test data accurately for engineering analysis.
- Collect and maintain specified records of engineering data, including test results, drawings, and reports.
- Perform basic computations by substituting data into prescribed formulas.
- Plot data and produce simple curves and graphs for visual representation and analysis.
Qualifications
Required education and experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Entry-level position; prior experience with basic assembly, testing, or technical tasks is a plus but not required.
- Basic understanding of simple tools, wiring, soldering, or operation of testing equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow step-by-step instructions.
- Ability to effectively record and document data in a clear and accurate manner.
- Basic mathematical skills to substitute numbers in formulas and create graphs.
- Strong willingness to learn and take direction from supervisors and senior team members.
- Good communication and teamwork skills to collaborate within a team environment.
- Self-motivated and able to complete tasks in a timely manner with supervision.
- Commitment to workplace safety and precision in performing assigned tasks.
- This position may require working in various environments, including offices, warehouse, production and integration space.
Physical requirements may include standing for extended periods, lifting or moving light equipment, and performing repetitive motions, moving light equipment.
