SAIC is searching for an experienced Radio Frequency (RF) Systems Engineer to join our team in Point Mugu, CA.
The RF Systems Engineer should have proven experience in developing innovative solutions that will be used to meet warfighter needs to support the US Navy Jammer Technique Optimization (JATO) Group relating to Electronic Support (ES) and Electronic Attack (EA) capability development.
Responsibilities include:
- Apply Systems Engineering knowledge to develop requirements, write specifications, and conduct research and trade studies to validate requirements to support large naval EW (Electronic Warfare) acquisition programs, such as Next Generation Jammer (NGJ)
- Be proactive and contribute unique concepts to a technical roadmap to expand the envelope of RF technology capabilities on US Navy airborne stand-off/support jamming platforms
- Apply strong knowledge of RF/microwave principles and system and subsystem-level analysis methodologies
- Use verbal and written communication to collaborate on requirements development teams and to present data and explain results to management and customers
- Hypothesize and develop experiments to provide insight into cause-and-effect. Create and validate experimentation plans/procedures traced to requirements
- Execute experimentation with subsystems in various laboratory and field environments.
- Assist with developing tools, such as Target Return Emulators, Software Defined Radios, and automation software to facilitate testing.
- Design EA waveforms for the EA-18G and other EW platforms and develop a set of common guiding principles for jammers and receivers in stand-off jamming applications
- Use RF/microwave test equipment such as a network analyzer with calibrations kits, spectrum analyzer, signal generator, RF power meter, and oscilloscope
- Domestic or International travel to support requirements collaboration, experimentation, and customer meetings
Qualifications
Required Education:

Bachelors and nine (9) years of experience; four (4) years of experience accepted in lieu of degree
Required Clearance:
-
Must have an active SECRET security clearance and be ability to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET security clearance.
Required skills:
- Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA) understanding and utilization
- Defining, refining, and analyzing requirements while supporting the systems engineering process
- Programming with MATLAB/Simulink
- Strong verbal and written communications skills
Desired Experience:
- FPGA programming in the field of EW
- Defining and refining requirements with Cameo (or other), using languages such as SYSML
- DRFM system design
- Fundamental Radar and/or Communications Systems knowledge
- Programming with Python
Target salary range: $135,001 - $145,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
