SAIC is seeking an Optical Scientist Associate in Eglin AFB, FL!
SAIC applies cutting edge science and technology, high performance computing resources, and advanced laboratory technology to the problem of developing and testing advanced laser and nonlinear optical sensor concepts and components for the United States Air Force. The successful applicant will play a key role in lab operations, including design, development, and construction of test and evaluation facilities for advanced active sensor concepts and components. Current research projects include development and construction of spectral and polarimetric optical characterization instruments
Roles & Responsibilities to include:
- Support laboratory tests, including setup, debugging, operation and documentation.
- Will need to be able to work effectively both within a team and individually.
- Experience using laboratory lasers, designing/aligning test stations, data collection and analysis, experience with high-speed detectors, power meters, spectrometers, polarization optics, oscilloscopes.
- Must have the ability to anticipate testing requirements and technology to act proactively to position the lab for improvement and success.
Qualifications
- Upper-level undergraduate actively pursuing Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, or physics
- Experience with numerical modeling tools such as MATLAB or Mathematica, and C++ or Python programming
- Experience with software/hardware integration
- Experience with laser/LiDAR development, designing, building, and testing LiDAR systems is desired.
- General knowledge of optics, lasers, and polarization phenomenology
- Hands-on experience with optical assembly
- Applicant must be qualified to obtain a DoD secret security clearance.
