SAIC's Corporate Program Control team is seeking a student intern for the spring of 2025. This is an ideal opportunity for college students seeking real-world financial experience with an organization driven to advance the power of technology and innovation to serve and protect our world. This internship will offer opportunities to work with financial professionals, program managers, and other functional areas, and will provide valuable experience to accelerate learning. A successful internship could potentially lead to a permanent position after graduation.
This position is has remote availability, with candidates local to the Northern VA/DC Metro area preferred.
Internship Duties And Responsibilities:
The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated self-starter who has keen analytical and organizational skills with strong attention to detail. This individual should have the ability to work collaboratively with employees at various levels throughout the company and be able to meet tight deadlines as necessary.
Representative responsibilities may include but are not limited to
- Interface with program managers, SAIC's finance, accounting, contracts, subcontracts, and procurement organizations to address operational issues in a timely and effective manner.
- Support the preparation and distribution financial information and analysis within required deadlines and ensure that the information provided is concise, relevant, and understandable to assist program management and operation leadership in making intelligent business decisions.
- Submit and maintain purchase requisitions for subcontractors, consultants, and materials; monitoring subcontractor's cost and review/approval of invoices.
- Support cash flow improvement initiatives by maintaining/developing detailed, complex invoice backup reports that drive customer invoice approvals.
- Analyze and reconcile cash flow, profitability, invoicing, un-billables, and costs on hold on a recurring basis.
- Support development of budgets (spend plans) for assigned programs and perform financial analysis on funding profiles and program financial variances.
- Support cost, schedule, and contract performance variance analysis.
- Assist in preparation of financial deliverables/models and internal/external reports to include quarterly forecasts, monthly latest revised estimates (LREs), and Estimates At Complete (EACs).
Qualifications
Required Education and Qualifications:
- High School and two or three years of college coursework at an accredited university, majoring or having completed coursework in Finance, Accounting, Economics or Business Administration
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to model financial data and develop effective data presentations
- Should be adaptable; duties, responsibilities and requirements may change over time and according to the project's needs
- Ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently while utilizing team guidance
- Prior related work experience is also considered
- US Citizenship Required
